Job description
Grant Thornton UAE is seeking a Senior Consultant β Quantitative Risk Analysis within its Regulatory Advisory practice in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on delivering high-quality quantitative risk advisory services to financial institutions, with a primary emphasis on Credit Risk and Market Risk. The position involves developing, validating, and implementing financial and risk models aligned with regulatory and client requirements, applying advanced quantitative analytics across spot and derivative markets including equities, interest rates, credit, commodities, and foreign exchange. The Senior Consultant supports compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks such as Basel, EBA, and CBUAE, contributes to regulatory compliance advisory and prudential regulation projects, and partners with multidisciplinary teams across Business Risk Services, Forensics, and Consulting. The role includes client-facing responsibilities, preparation of analytical outputs and presentations, mentoring junior consultants, supporting business development initiatives, and traveling regularly to client sites to support engagement delivery.

Key responsibilities
- Apply advanced credit and market risk expertise to deliver regulatory advisory and analytical solutions for financial institution clients
- Develop, validate, and implement quantitative risk and financial models including VaR, ES, IRB, IFRS 9, FRTB, IRRBB, and CVA
- Manage and analyze risk across spot and derivative markets for equities, interest rate, credit, commodities, and foreign exchange products
- Support hedging strategy analysis and financial instrument valuation activities
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks including Basel, EBA, and CBUAE guidelines
- Utilize quantitative analytics and risk management tools to address complex regulatory and risk management challenges
- Prepare client presentations, participate in client meetings, and contribute to proposals and business development initiatives
- Review deliverables, mentor junior consultants, and ensure quality and professional standards are consistently met
- Manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities within a fast-paced advisory environment
Experience & skills
- Possess a minimum of 3+ years of experience in financial risk management or quantitative analysis within a financial institution, consultancy, or Big 4 firm
- Hold a Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Financial Mathematics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline
- Demonstrate strong aptitude for quantitative analysis and advanced financial modelling
- Exhibit experience with analytical and risk management tools such as Python, R, SAS, MATLAB, or Bloomberg
- Maintain strong understanding of regulatory frameworks including Basel, EBA, and CBUAE
- Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills in English with Arabic as an advantage
- Hold or pursue professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA as a recommended qualification
- Demonstrate ability to work independently, manage multiple engagements, and travel regularly to client sites
