Job description
The Powerplants Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and oversight for flydubaiâs Boeing 737 fleet engines, including CFM56-7B, LEAP-1B, and 131-9B models. The role ensures continued airworthiness, optimizes engine performance, and supports OEM collaborations, maintenance planning, and incident investigations. This position demands detailed engine lifecycle management, participation in industry technical reviews, and enhancement of maintenance programs, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational cost-effectiveness.

Key responsibilities
- Processes continued airworthiness and engineering tasks including health and performance monitoring of the Powerplants.
- Supports collaboration with OEMs for defect analysis and reliability improvements.
- Assesses and prepares instructions and recommendations from certificate holders for operated Powerplants.
- Represents the airline at industry technical meetings and conferences.
- Evaluates in-service Powerplant issues and proposes commercially viable solutions.
- Contributes to engine maintenance program development and enhancement.
- Improves the Approved Maintenance Programme based on OEM instructions and fleet experience.
- Collaborates with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory authorities on technical issues and modifications.
- Maintains engine life database including operational and airworthiness information.
- Prepares engine removal planning to optimize time on-wing with maintenance agreements.
- Reviews workscopes for engine shop visits including parts replacements and concessions.
- Liaises with engine owners during lease periods and manages technical lease documentation.
- Assists in preparing short and long-term shop visit budget forecasts.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs degree in Engineering.
- Fluent in English.
- Minimum of 5 years in airline engineering operations with experience in flydubai-operated engines.
- Familiarity with IT systems and OEM diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of AMOS software is an advantage.
- Experience in engine maintenance planning and performance diagnostics.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance and airworthiness standards.
- Ability to manage engine lifecycle and coordinate with stakeholders on lease and maintenance terms.
