Job description
The Head of Distribution & Business Development ā Islamic Banking for Wealth and Retail Banking at Standard Chartered Bank in Dubai is responsible for driving new business development in the Saadiq Wealth & Retail Banking segment. This includes introducing new client relationships, enhancing the Islamic banking value proposition, establishing partnerships, and engaging front-line teams. The role requires formulating and implementing business strategies to achieve growth targets, delivering incremental assets under management (AuM), and enhancing distribution effectiveness. Responsibilities also encompass regulatory compliance, Shariah governance adherence, risk management, and providing training and tools to front-line staff. The position involves coordinating with internal stakeholders to address business weaknesses, ensure alignment with regulatory and organizational policies, and represent the Islamic Banking function in governance forums. Candidates should be familiar with Islamic finance concepts, structures, AAOIFI and Higher Shariah Authority guidelines, and have relevant educational qualifications in banking and finance, along with UAE or GCC market experience.

- Deliver incremental AuM through self-sourced relationships and business partnerships
- Lead by example and promote the bankās culture and values
- Facilitate training for front-line and related staff with product and Shariah teams
- Equip front-line teams with pitch decks and communication tools for Islamic propositions
- Identify weaknesses and drive control improvements in the business
- Ensure compliance with Country, Group, and Business policies and codes
- Manage Shariah non-compliance risk with country stakeholders
- Monitor and report Islamic Banking performance to the Saadiq team
- Comply with internal policies and directives from Central Bank and Shariah authorities
- Maintain understanding of regulatory frameworks and deliver effective governance
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorās or Masterās degree in Banking and Finance or relevant field
- Demonstrate knowledge of Islamic finance, structures, and Shariah concepts
- Be familiar with AAOIFI and Higher Shariah Authority guidelines
- Possess experience in the UAE and/or GCC markets
- Have experience training staff and developing client communication tools
- Ensure compliance with Islamic governance frameworks and central bank regulations
- Engage effectively with front-line, product, and Shariah teams for business development
