Job description
Provides legal advice and support to OQ Commercial and Downstream Strategic Business Unit – RPI and Polymer Cluster across marketing, corporate, operational, procurement and related matters. Acts as agent of change by constructively challenging status quo. Responsibilities include legal corporate governance, contract drafting and negotiation, tenders support, legal risk assessments, claims and dispute resolution, litigation support and stakeholder engagement to stay updated on legal developments relevant to company operations in Oman.

Key responsibilities
- Assist cluster companies in all legal matters: contracts, corporate documents, drafting and negotiations, legal opinions and assessments
- Liaise with external legal counsels and government authorities to minimize legal exposure and liability
- Conduct legal research and prepare internal memos, opinions and notes
- Provide integrated legal support to Marketing in collaboration with VP Legal C&D
- Guide critical business unit legal matters and support legal processes
- Strategize and align marketing legal processes with OQ C&D objectives
- Provide analysis on deviations in contracts and tenders from contractors and service providers
- Assist in contract formation and management activities with Procurement
- Draft and negotiate operational and business contracts
- Advise and maintain compliance controls and governance frameworks for OQ cluster entities
- Contribute to policies, procedures and risk/internal audit/governance functions
- Advise compliance across OQ marketing offices in multiple jurisdictions
- Maintain contracts and legal database for cluster
- Support contractual assessments for claims and disputes
- Assist negotiations with customers, suppliers and stakeholders
- Support labor and employee disputes in foreign offices
- Review and draft external communications to stakeholders and authorities
- Coordinate tender process and advise on contract deviations
- Maintain knowledge of legal frameworks including Oman Labor and Companies Laws
- Assist in legal risk management and compliance monitoring
- Advise on litigation and coordinate with external counsel
- Represent legal department in meetings and ensure follow-up of legal actions
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in laws and regulations or related field
- Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken Arabic and English
- 8+ years of relevant experience in a similar role
- Experience in oil and gas industry preferred
- In‑house and/or legal firm experience required
- Sound knowledge of contract law (non‑contentious) and claims/dispute management (contentious)
- Experience with tendering processes and procedures
- Knowledge of Omani and English corporate and commercial law
- Strong presence with senior executives
- Negotiation and influencing ability
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Ability to identify and mitigate legal, compliance and contractual risks
- Strong stakeholder communication
- Experience with multi‑jurisdictional contracts
