Job description
The Account Control Consultant at Tap Payments is responsible for supporting business teams across MENA in managing merchant onboarding, document collection, verification, and compliance processes within a fast-growing fintech payments environment. The role ensures that all merchant accounts are accurately captured, reviewed, and onboarded in alignment with processor and vendor KYC guidelines, supporting seamless and compliant entry of new merchants into the Tap Payments ecosystem. The position involves coordinating closely with Sales teams to gather pre-application data, collecting required merchant documentation, performing initial underwriting and compliance checks, and ensuring proper configuration of merchant accounts. The consultant acts as a key liaison between merchants, internal business teams, and external payment processors to facilitate application approvals and resolve onboarding or configuration issues. The role requires continuous monitoring of merchant accounts to identify issues, troubleshoot errors, and ensure operational accuracy in payment system setups. Additionally, the Account Control Consultant is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, supporting compliance adherence, and contributing to merchant satisfaction through responsive issue resolution. The role requires a strong understanding of fintech operations, merchant lifecycle management, and payment system workflows while ensuring timely execution of tasks in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities
- Coordinate with Sales teams to collect pre-application merchant data and ensure accurate onboarding information is captured in line with company requirements.
- Collect, verify, and validate merchant documentation required for onboarding and compliance with KYC and processor/vendor guidelines.
- Perform initial underwriting and compliance checks on merchant applications to ensure eligibility and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Accurately onboard merchant accounts into systems to ensure first-time approval and smooth activation of payment services.
- Act as a liaison between merchants and payment processors to facilitate application approvals and resolve onboarding issues.
- Review and diagnose merchant account configuration issues and coordinate corrective actions to ensure system accuracy and operational stability.
- Provide responsive support to dissatisfied merchants by de-escalating issues and offering effective problem resolution and guidance.
- Maintain strong collaboration with internal teams and ensure all merchant onboarding activities meet launch timelines and business expectations.
Experience & skills
- Possess 1–2 years of experience in fintech, financial services, or high-growth startup environments.
- Demonstrate understanding of merchant onboarding, KYC processes, and financial compliance requirements.
- Show ability to manage document collection, verification, and account setup processes accurately and efficiently.
- Exhibit strong communication skills in English and Arabic (native speaker required).
- Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and follow structured operational procedures.
- Possess strong problem-solving and quick decision-making skills in fast-paced environments.
- Show ability to build internal relationships and collaborate across sales, compliance, and operations teams.
- Demonstrate organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple onboarding tasks simultaneously.
