Job description
Aramco is hiring a Lead Engineer to join its Global Optimizer Development Department. This role focuses on analyzing and structuring large volumes of raw and historical data to build advanced algorithms and decision-making tools. The Lead Engineer will support forecasting and predictive modeling for Downstream Digital Center strategies. Responsibilities include designing and executing analytic studies, coordinating with data engineers, building data environments, and defining long-term data architecture. The position requires deep expertise in data science, programming, and analytics, and contributes directly to Aramco’s mission of maximizing energy value and global impact.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Formulate and lead multi-faceted analytic studies against large volumes of data
- Interpret and analyze data using exploratory mathematical and statistical techniques
- Coordinate research and analytic activities using structured and unstructured data
- Develop experiments and provide actionable information based on results
- Lead all data science experiments tasked by the Data Science Team
- Coordinate with Data Engineers to build data environments for identified data sets
- Develop methodologies for prioritization and project scheduling
- Analyze problems and identify root causes
- Define company data assets using spark, sparkSQL, and hiveSQL jobs
- Collaborate with business units and engineering teams to define data platform strategy
Experience & skills
- Bachelor degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science or related fields
- Advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist
- Proficiency with Java, C++, Python, R or similar programming languages
- Experience applying data science methods to real-world data problems
- Experience in using visualization tools to analyze complex data
