Job description
The Store Manager | Sports | Kuwait is responsible for managing and driving sales for the store through efficient store operations, visual merchandising, customer service delivery, and motivation and retention of store personnel in adherence to GMG norms. Operating within GMG Sports under a global well-being company retailing, distributing and manufacturing leading international and home-grown brands across sport, food and health sectors, the role ensures achievement of financial objectives through effective sales management and operational control. Core accountabilities include communicating store targets to the team, driving sales performance, maintaining loss prevention standards, ensuring compliance with cash handling procedures, fraud prevention and theft control, and overseeing all Point of Sale (POS) activities including sales transactions, tracking customer orders and payments, registering sales, maintaining inventory updates, handling returns and refunds, and gathering consumer data for feedback. The role manages petty cash, POS cash elements and change floats, conducts store administration audits, supports annual stock counts and spot checks, monitors and resolves customer complaints in line with policy, and evaluates brand sales performance through sales reporting, market trend analysis and competitor analysis. The Store Manager maintains window and in-store displays in line with merchandising guidelines, oversees inventory management including stock availability, order management, back store management and stock movement within the store, ensures accurate stock merchandise management covering stock ageing, stock loss and space management, coordinates with facilities for repairs and maintenance programs, prepares staff schedules ensuring adequate shift coverage during seasonal peaks and promotional events, and ensures team training in inventory management techniques including in-bound movement of goods, receiving, stocking, restocking, transfers and managing inventory discrepancies.

Key responsibilities
- Drive sales management by communicating store targets, achieving financial objectives, tracking and evaluating brand sales performance, analyzing sales reports, researching market trends and competitor trading activities, and proposing action plans to increase sales and profitability.
- Oversee store operations including Point of Sale (POS) activities such as sales transactions, tracking customer orders and payments, registering sales, maintaining inventory updates, handling returns and refunds, gathering consumer data, and managing petty cash, POS cash elements and change floats in compliance with cash handling and fraud prevention standards.
- Maintain loss prevention standards and ensure compliance with theft control policies while auditing store administration, supporting annual stock counts and spot checks, and resolving operational issues in a timely manner.
- Manage customer service delivery by monitoring and resolving customer complaints in line with company policy, responding to feedback professionally, and ensuring exceptional customer experience standards are maintained.
- Oversee inventory management including stock availability, order management, back store management, stock movement within store, stock ageing analysis, stock loss control and space management to ensure accurate stock merchandise management.
- Maintain window and in-store displays to high visual merchandising standards in line with merchandising guidelines and report on performance of new and core collections to maximize stock potential.
- Coordinate with facilities department for repairs or replacement of furniture and equipment and support company maintenance standards and programs to optimize asset life.
- Prepare staff schedules, maintain staffing levels aligned with operational needs, ensure adequate shift coverage during seasonal peaks and promotional events, and manage and coach the store team to drive motivation and retention.
- Ensure team training in inventory management techniques including in-bound movement of goods, receiving, stocking, restocking, transfers and managing inventory discrepancies to maintain operational excellence.
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate retail store management experience within the sports retail or related industry with proven capability in sales management, store operations and achieving financial objectives.
- Exhibit industry expertise and strong product/category knowledge relevant to sports retail and well-being sectors.
- Possess retail experience in GCC markets with understanding of regional consumer behavior, competitor trading activities and market trends.
- Show proficiency in managing Point of Sale (POS) systems, cash handling procedures, petty cash management, fraud prevention and loss prevention standards.
- Demonstrate expertise in inventory management, stock management, stock ageing analysis, stock loss control, order management and back store management processes.
- Exhibit capability in visual merchandising and maintaining window and in-store displays aligned with merchandising guidelines.
- Demonstrate ability to analyze sales reports, conduct market trend analysis and competitor analysis, and propose data-driven action plans to increase sales and profitability.
- Show experience in staff scheduling, shift coverage planning, team coaching and training in inventory management techniques including receiving, stocking, restocking and transfers.
- Demonstrate fluent English communication skills (written and spoken) to effectively manage customer service delivery, internal coordination and reporting requirements.
