Job description
GEMS Westminster School - Ras Al Khaimah WSR is a real community that combines tradition and innovation in teaching and learning, enabling pupils to be the best they can be in all aspects of school life. The Deputy Head Of Primary will support and implement the vision and ethos of the school, deputise for the Head of School, lead school development plans, and ensure effective teaching, curriculum planning, staff development, and student outcomes across the primary section.

Key responsibilities
- Support and implement the vision and ethos of the school
- Contribute to, implement and evaluate the success of the School Development Plan relevant to your area
- Assist, support, represent and deputise for the Head of School
- Ensure that the teamās work is inclusive and addresses curriculum and/or pastoral management issues
- Translate policies into practice and review as needed
- Lead school self-evaluation processes and improvement strategies
- Contribute to writing self-evaluation and policy documents
- Manage transition of pupils within and beyond the phase
- Promote cross-curricular teaching approaches
- Be an effective senior/middle leadership team member and role model
- Undertake class teacher responsibilities
- Lead core school priorities and improvement initiatives
- Ensure curriculum continuity, consistency, balance, and progression
- Lead and coordinate area-specific staff meetings
- Develop and promote teaching strategies suitable for all abilities
- Monitor and review student progress through data analysis
- Conduct work scrutiny and ensure quality planning and assessment
- Organize and evaluate school programmes and resource usage
- Act as appraiser and mentor for designated staff
- Identify training needs and promote a school-wide professional development culture
- Stay up to date with pedagogical developments and share with the team
- Initiate change in departments and develop best practices
- Participate in professional conferences and foster parental engagement
Experience & skills
- MA in Educational Leadership
- Over 2 years of experience in school leadership or management
- Strong strategic planning and change management abilities
- Demonstrated capability in curriculum and pedagogical development
- Experience in staff development and appraisal systems
- Ability to analyze data for academic planning and improvement
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of students
