Job description
The Enterprise Data Lead role at Thales AGS Trading in Abu Dhabi is a senior position responsible for acting as the central point of accountability for the enterprise data ecosystem within a fast-paced aviation aftermarket trading environment focused on Used Serviceable Material (USM). Reporting to the General Manager of AGS Trading, the role covers ERP administration, data platforms, data analytics, system integrations, and data governance. The position works closely with procurement, supply chain, finance, sales, compliance, IT teams, and external vendors and implementation partners. The role oversees ERP system configuration, user access management, cloud-based configurations, data integrity, and coordination with ERP vendor technical support for incident resolution, fixes, and upgrades. It ensures smooth change management through UAT, testing, and compliance with internal controls. The Enterprise Data Lead drives cross-functional collaboration to align data initiatives with business outcomes, strengthen governance, improve data quality, and promote continuous improvement through automation, best practices, and knowledge sharing. Responsibilities span automated data pipelines using SQL and Python, real-time data integration, advanced analytics, dashboards, predictive models, documentation, training, and leadership of procurement campaigns and Fair Market Value (FMV) analytics. The role also leads digital transformation initiatives including marketplace development and cloud migration, while ensuring compliance with trade compliance, export control, CRM validation processes, Thales IT policies, and regulatory requirements. The position supports aviation trading operations by delivering reliable insights, secure data processes, and scalable data-driven solutions aligned with operational excellence and strategic goals.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Act as the strategic owner of enterprise data systems, ensuring platforms are maintained and evolved in alignment with business requirements
- Oversee ERP administration including system configuration, user access controls, cloud-based configurations, and data integrity
- Manage data extraction using SQL across ERP modules including Inventory Management, Accounting, Sales, Procurement, and Repair
- Build and maintain ERP Event Managers to deliver alerts and notifications to relevant users
- Develop and maintain custom ERP forms such as Customer Quote, Sales Order Acknowledgment, Purchase Order, and Financial Invoices
- Apply regulations and field-level controls within ERP using Screen Editor tools
- Verify bulk data accuracy and perform ERP data imports
- Collaborate with ERP technical support teams to resolve critical issues and manage upgrades
- Gather business requirements from cross-functional stakeholders and translate them into scalable, data-driven solutions
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain automated data pipelines using SQL and Python for real-time data integration
- Develop dashboards and predictive models to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Create and maintain documentation, training materials, and knowledge repositories for BI reports and dashboards
- Deliver training sessions and knowledge transfer programs to ensure adoption and business continuity
- Lead procurement campaigns and FMV analytics including campaign execution, supplier data consolidation, cleansing, modeling, and ERP integration
- Lead digital transformation initiatives including AGS Trading Marketplace and cloud migration
- Collaborate with Trade Compliance, Export Control, CRM, and IS/IT teams to ensure regulatory compliance, data security, and risk mitigation
- Oversee data quality frameworks and establish ERP processes to ensure clean, reliable, and governed data
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8–10 years of professional experience in data engineering, ERP systems, and data analytics
- Strong experience with Python, SQL, PySpark, and DAX
- Hands-on experience with ETL pipelines, data modeling, data integration, and APIs (REST/GraphQL)
- Experience with Oracle and SQL Server databases
- Proficiency in Power BI and Tableau for business intelligence and reporting
- Experience with Oracle-based ERP systems, specifically Quantum Control, including configuration, administration, and integration
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platforms
- Strong background in predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and machine learning algorithms
- Experience with automation tools including Power Automate and Event Manager
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and validation rules
- Strong understanding of procurement, supply chain, finance, and sales business functions
- Ability to bridge business requirements with technical data solutions
- Experience working in cross-functional, multicultural environments
- Experience in the aerospace industry or trading domain is an advantage
