Job description
Engineering Manager II responsible for leading a high-performing engineering organization within a fintech super-app environment, accountable for technical strategy, execution, and delivery across multiple complex product domains. The role involves managing 6–10 senior engineers across one or more squads, ensuring alignment with company-level objectives while driving architectural evolution of scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems. The position requires deep technical leadership in modern software engineering, including Java/Go-based systems, Kubernetes environments, CI/CD pipelines, messaging architectures, and cloud-native platforms. The Engineering Manager II partners closely with product and business leadership to shape medium- and long-term product strategy, ensuring engineering output delivers measurable business impact and ROI. Responsibilities include owning cross-team delivery plans, resolving complex dependencies, managing hiring strategies, succession planning, and ensuring balanced investment between feature delivery and technical excellence. The role emphasizes system reliability, scalability, and maintainability, while fostering a strong culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The Engineering Manager II is also responsible for mentoring senior engineers and aspiring engineering managers, driving leadership development, and ensuring a high-performance engineering culture within a fast-paced fintech environment serving millions of users across the GCC region.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and guide multiple squads of senior engineers, defining technical direction aligned with company vision and product strategy
- Own architectural decisions for complex distributed systems ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
- Drive cross-team delivery planning, managing dependencies and ensuring successful execution of multi-domain initiatives
- Partner with product and business leadership to define roadmap priorities and align engineering execution with business outcomes
- Manage engineering talent development including mentoring senior engineers and supporting future engineering managers
- Oversee hiring strategy, team structure design, and succession planning for engineering organization growth
- Ensure system reliability, performance optimization, and continuous technical improvement across owned services
- Communicate delivery progress, risks, and mitigation strategies clearly to senior leadership and stakeholders
Experience & skills
- 4+ years of experience in engineering management roles leading software engineering teams
- Strong technical background in software development using Java or Go
- Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, messaging systems, and cloud infrastructure
- Proven experience managing senior engineers and delivering complex cross-team initiatives
- Ability to lead technical architecture discussions and define engineering strategy
- Experience working in Agile environments and managing iterative product delivery
- Strong stakeholder management experience including collaboration with product and business leaders
- Experience in fintech or e-commerce environments is a strong advantage
