Job description
As Senior Manager - Capital Accounting at NEOM, you will lead a high-performance accounting team responsible for overseeing capital project accounting across the organization. The role is critical in ensuring the accurate financial tracking and capitalization of infrastructure and fixed asset projects, partnering closely with regional commercial, technical, and project management teams. You'll oversee CWIP, cost allocations, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance with IFRS, and manage relationships with auditors. The role also includes ensuring ERP system integration (SAP/Oracle), supporting change management, and aligning capital accounting activities with NEOMās large-scale development goals. This position plays a strategic and operational role in establishing world-class accounting practices in one of the largest infrastructure programs in the world.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the capital accounting team, ensuring full visibility and documentation of assets across NEOM Regions and Sectors
- Coordinate closely with Commercial and Technical teams for accurate and timely financial management of projects
- Ensure proper accounting, reporting, and valuation of CWIP and Fixed Assets
- Support internal controls, account reconciliation, and enhancements to accounting policies and procedures
- Manage the financial reporting process and support audit readiness for capital projects
- Develop and refine management systems and procedures to support consistent financial tracking
- Ensure alignment of SAP S/4HANA, PS (Project System), and Oracle PMIS for consistent reporting
- Build cross-functional collaboration with project, finance, and compliance teams
- Assess and execute strategic priorities to enhance capital accounting capabilities
- Oversee stakeholder engagement, developing tailored plans and maintaining strong relationships across NEOM entities
- Serve as the escalation point for regional accounting issues and coordinate resolutions
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership regarding financial status and stakeholder activity
- Drive and manage change initiatives within the capital accounting function, including risk mitigation and engagement strategies
- Ensure regulatory and ethical compliance in all reporting and engagement activities
- Prepare presentations, reports, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Accounting or a related field
- Relevant certifications such as CA, ACCA, or CPA required
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project and asset accounting
- Proven experience managing large audits and working with infrastructure or real estate programs
- Strong command of IFRS and capital accounting standards
- Hands-on experience with SAP (preferably SAP S/4HANA) and/or Oracle project and asset management modules
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and data presentation skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills with ability to lead and collaborate across departments
- Proven ability to manage deadlines, pressure, and complex cross-regional projects
