Job description
The Senior Associate - AML CTF Investigations role at QNB is designed to ensure adequate systems and controls are in place to effectively manage money laundering and terrorist financing risks at a Group level. The position supports the implementation of AML/CTF frameworks, ensures compliance with Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and Financial Action Task Force (FATF) requirements, and assists in investigations of suspicious transactions. The role involves daily transaction monitoring, regulatory liaison, compliance reviews, training input, and supporting the AML/CTF Specialist in various audits, investigations, and reporting activities. The position requires maintaining confidentiality, strict adherence to compliance policies, and active participation in risk management frameworks to safeguard QNB from regulatory and reputational risks.

Key responsibilities
- Execute AML/CTF monitoring of customer daily transactions to identify suspicious activity.
- Implement KPIs and best practices for AML/CTF investigations.
- Promote efficiency and cost-consciousness in AML/CTF operations.
- Assist AML/CTF Specialist in liaising with regulators including QCB, QFMA, QFC, and FIU.
- Support communication of amendments to AML/CTF laws and regulations to domestic entities.
- Conduct periodic reviews of AML/CTF activities at Group entities as per Board Audit & Compliance Committee plan.
- Test compliance with approved KYC policies.
- Participate in reviews of daily and monthly AML/CTF reports and escalate non-compliance cases.
- Investigate suspicious transaction reports (STRs) received from Branch MLROs.
- Provide responses to AML/CTF questionnaires from correspondent banks and counterparties.
- Assist in managing liaison with NAMLC, FIU, and QCB.
- Act as backup to AML/CTF Specialist in their absence.
- Participate in special assignments and investigations as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AML/CTF laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Contribute to training plans and professional development of compliance staff.
- Comply with all relevant compliance and risk management policies including Sanctions, Fraud Control, Whistle Blowing, and Conflict of Interest policies.
- Support the risk management framework including RCSA, KRI, incident reporting, and remediation.
- Prepare and update AML/CTF system manuals.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained in the course of duties.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, CIA, or CCO desired.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a major banking institution or consultancy firm.
- Knowledge of QCB regulations and FATF guidelines.
- Experience in transaction monitoring and suspicious transaction reporting.
- Understanding of AML/CTF compliance frameworks and KYC policies.
- Ability to liaise with regulators and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Familiarity with operational risk management frameworks including RCSA and KRI.
- Proficiency in preparing reports, manuals, and compliance documentation.
