Job description
HungerStation, part of the Delivery Hero Group, is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Riyadh location. The engineer will lead complex backend initiatives, drive engineering excellence, and influence system architecture across multiple teams. The role involves hands-on backend development using languages like GoLang, Java, Python, Node.js, and RoR. The candidate will engage in design-driven development, SOLID principles, and event-driven architecture. Responsibilities include mentoring peers, setting technical standards, performing code reviews, debugging, and collaborating in agile cross-functional teams. Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (GCP, AWS), and infrastructure as code using Terraform is required. The engineer will contribute to architectural decisions and the scalability and security of backend systems supporting millions of users.

Experience & skills
- More than 8 years of experience in backend programming with languages such as GoLang, RoR, Java, Python, Node.js, .NET Core, PHP
- Strong experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, New Relic
- Proven role in building complex, high-quality applications using Domain Driven Design and microservice architecture
- Expertise in Software Architecture, Design Patterns, and Design Principles
- Strong knowledge of databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL, including understanding trade-offs
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with cloud providers GCP and AWS
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform
- Tech evangelism via meetups, LinkedIn, or Stack Overflow is a plus
- Flexible, open-minded, and collaborative team player
