Job description
Sanctions screening and AML monitoring platforms at First Abu Dhabi Bank generate alerts for every FAB location, local and international, and the quality of those alerts depends on how well the systems are tuned. Sitting in the Tuning, Calibration & Analytics function within Financial Crime Operations, this position reports to the VP & Head of Tuning, Calibration & Analytics. Your core task is periodic tuning and calibration of algorithms, parameters, thresholds and rules to improve alert effectiveness and cut false positives. Much of that work happens on Fircosoft filter and Firco Utilities, or equivalent tools, with screening checked against Bank-approved global lists and individual country lists. Testing is constant, covering data quality and completeness, underlying models, logic and thresholds, and any gaps found are recorded, risk assessed and closed. Group IT will be a close partner on change requests, BRD/FSD documentation, UAT and new system implementations, and user training before go live also falls to you. On the reporting side, you will build MI dashboards in Power BI, pulling data from source systems with SQL and basic programming. At least 4 years in data analysis and sanctions screening or AML monitoring, ideally backed by ICA or CAMS certification, fits the role well.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain fit-for-purpose algorithms, parameters, thresholds and rules across the Group's sanctions screening and AML monitoring systems
- Tune and calibrate payment and customer screening and AML monitoring systems on an ongoing basis to improve alert quality and reduce false positives
- Confirm that sanctions screening covers Bank-approved global lists and individual country lists for all FAB locations
- Test screening and monitoring systems periodically for data quality and completeness, models, logic, thresholds and rules, then record, risk assess and close any gaps
- Draft BRD/FSD documentation with Group IT and other stakeholders for screening and monitoring system projects
- Coordinate system changes with Group IT as change requests, setting timelines and programme structures for major changes
- Run UAT sessions for sanctions screening and AML monitoring implementations and train affected users ahead of go live
- Deliver mandated tuning and optimisation projects and give periodic status updates to the VP & Head of Tuning, Calibration & Analytics
- Advise IT teams on system selection, upgrades and new implementations that affect screening and monitoring performance
- Support local and international FAB locations with country-specific configuration in line with international sanctions and AML requirements
- Build tuning, calibration and analytics MI dashboards with Financial Crime Operations SMEs, extracting data from source systems using queries and basic programming
- Maintain the reporting plan, schedule and workflow for multiple periodic reports
- Write procedures and processes for the function in line with Group Policy

- Operate screening and monitoring platforms such as Fircosoft filter, Firco Utilities and backends, or equivalent tools
- Query and report data using SQL and Power BI
