Job description
The Senior Duty Engineer at Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts Doha β The Business Park supports the Director of Engineering in all POMEC functions, manages the engineering department in their absence, and ensures optimal operating efficiency by adhering to technical maintenance manuals. The role ensures implementation of IHG policies, standards, and procedures across life safety and fire prevention, physical security, preventive and routine maintenance, maintenance planning, water quality control, and POMEC labour standards. The engineer analyzes operations and expenditures, establishes energy management programs, inspects the property, monitors trends in hotel technology, manages contracted service providers and purchase orders, assists in staff selection and technical training, and supports initiatives for environmental improvements and utility cost reduction. The position also involves capital expenditure review, reporting of accidents and hazards, and maintaining compliance with IHG Brand Standards.

Key responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Engineering in all POMEC functions and manage engineering department in their absence
- Achieve optimal operating efficiency by adhering to technical maintenance manuals
- Implement IHG policies, standards, and procedures for life safety, fire prevention, physical security, preventive and routine maintenance, maintenance planning, POMEC policies, water quality control, and staff supervision
- Analyze and monitor POMEC operations and expenditures
- Establish and operate effective energy management programs
- Participate in periodic inspections of the property
- Monitor hotel technology trends and recommend future actions
- Receive and analyze feedback to recommend new operational policies and procedures
- Review annual POMEC budgets with the Director of Engineering
- Review proposed Capital Expenditure Authorization requests prior to submission to General Manager
- Handle contracted service providers and manage purchase orders
- Assist with selection and technical training of engineering staff
- Investigate and recommend local purchasing of contract services, equipment, parts, and supplies
- Support programs for environmental improvement and utility cost reduction
- Report all accidents, hazards, or dangerous occurrences to the Director of Engineering
Experience & skills
- College degree in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 yearsβ operating experience in a leading/managing capacity in a 5-star hotel
- Strong technical knowledge of kitchen and laundry equipment
- Familiarity with operations and priorities of all hotel operating departments
- Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
