Job description
The Lead Commercial Advisor at Wood will support Iraq operations from the Dubai office, playing a critical role in overseeing contract and commercial activities across upstream and midstream oil and gas projects. This role involves leading post-award contract administration, managing financial risks and returns, and ensuring adherence to commercial governance standards. Responsibilities include commercial strategy development, cash flow forecasting, cost optimization, vendor contract negotiation, change management, and risk mitigation. The position demands extensive cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have over a decade of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a proven track record in contract and commercial management.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Lead post-award contract administration and commercial governance
- Ensure compliance with DOA and commercial policies
- Develop and maintain project commercial strategies and plans
- Monitor cash flow forecasts, cost analysis, and invoice management
- Support contract variation management and change control
- Liaise with legal, finance, insurance, and tax teams on risk and compliance
- Manage project-specific bonds, PCGs, and commercial deliverables
- Support claims resolution and dispute handling
- Contribute to procurement strategy and subcontractor negotiations
- Oversee financial performance tracking and commercial reporting
Experience & skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience in oil and gas industry; 5 years in similar role
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or Business Studies
- Strong experience in contract administration, commercial planning, and risk management
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
