Job description
The Senior School Computer Science Teacher at Al Waha Campus, part of the British International School Riyadh (BISR), will deliver high-quality education for students aged 11-18 following the English National Curriculum. The role encompasses classroom instruction, lesson planning, assessment, student engagement, and pastoral care, alongside contribution to co-curricular activities and the schoolâs strategic pillars of learning, enrichment, and well-being. Teachers are expected to support the holistic development of students, maintain high standards of classroom practice, collaborate with colleagues, uphold safeguarding policies, and foster an inclusive environment. The teacher will also engage in professional development, curriculum monitoring, and contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote student achievement, welfare, and community involvement.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver Computer Science lessons for Senior School students (ages 11-18) in accordance with the English National Curriculum
- Use high-quality assessment and feedback strategies to ensure students make progress in their learning
- Create a positive classroom climate that supports student well-being and holistic development
- Serve as Form Tutor, supporting studentsâ social, emotional, and academic needs within the pastoral care system
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and contribute to co-curricular activities, residential trips, and school community events
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and attendance, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice to maintain teaching excellence
- Support safeguarding policies and ensure a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students
Experience & skills
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in UK or international schools
- Qualified Teacher status with a Certificate of Education (PGCE or B.Ed) or UK-recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching secondary school students (ages 11-18) in Computer Science
- Demonstrated experience with classroom management, lesson planning, and assessment practices
- Knowledge of and ability to implement the English National Curriculum
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students
- Commitment to student well-being, co-curricular engagement, and holistic development
- Effective communication skills with students, parents, and staff
- Understanding of intercultural awareness, cultural sensitivity, and safeguarding policies
