Job description
Emirates Group IT's Platform Engineering team is adding a Senior Technical Engineer - Public Cloud in Dubai to architect and engineer next generation cloud platforms that unify control across datacentres, networks, and public and private cloud environments. Automation, agility and cost optimization drive the team's work, enabling scalable, resilient and secure infrastructure services that power critical business functions across the Emirates Group. You'll design, develop and deliver secure, scalable and reliable public cloud solutions aligned with business needs and enterprise standards, acting as technical expert for cloud automation, workload onboarding and platform engineering. Internal self-service capabilities get built in close collaboration with application, architecture, security, network and DevOps teams, driving adoption of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability, governance and FinOps practices. IT solutions need to meet service level requirements around availability, capacity, continuity, security, performance and reliability, developed in line with established Enterprise Architecture standards. AWS and Azure cloud platforms sit at the core of the technical toolkit, alongside containerisation and orchestration through Docker, Kubernetes, EKS and AKS. Full-stack development matters too, using Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, React and Node.js to build REST APIs, backend services and web-based applications, backed by Infrastructure as Code through Terraform, Python, Bash and PowerShell. Incidents get resolved within agreed service levels, problems get analysed through the Problem Management Process, and high-quality documentation, including detailed design and support procedures, stays published and maintained. A degree or Honours in Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering is required, along with 5 or more years of related IT engineering experience and proficiency managing AWS and Azure platforms.
