Job description
Reporting into the Director of Sales, this Assistant Director of Sales role focuses squarely on Government, Royal Affairs, Diplomatic, and strategic institutional accounts across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Sofitel Riyadh Hotel & Convention Centre. Ministries, royal offices, embassies, diplomatic missions, and government-related organizations all sit within your relationship-building remit, alongside strategic decision-makers who shape where business gets placed. You identify and convert high-value opportunities that position the hotel as a preferred destination for government, royal, diplomatic, VIP, corporate, and MICE events. Day-to-day sales activity covers account development, prospecting, relationship management, contract negotiations, and business conversion across the assigned market. Strategic account plans get built for key government and royal accounts, covering business potential, production history, contacts, competitor positioning, and future forecasts. Government procurement processes, tender opportunities, and preferred supplier requirements all need tracking closely, alongside government calendars, national initiatives, and major events that could generate hotel demand. Negotiations for government rates, preferred agreements, corporate agreements, and event contracts fall under your lead, always balancing commercial value against hotel policy. Protocol teams, executive assistants, procurement departments, and diplomatic personnel all become working relationships over time, supported by regular sales calls, executive meetings, site inspections, and client entertainment. Confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism run through every interaction, since government, royal, and diplomatic clients expect nothing less. Coaching and knowledge sharing with the wider Sales team round out the role, keeping a disciplined and proactive approach to account management across the team.
