Job description
Electrical systems across OQ Exploration and Production's oil and gas facilities need a senior technical authority, and this Lead Engineer, Electrical in Muscat fills that position, reporting to the Manager, Electrical. Designs, calculations and specifications from engineering contractors and consultants come to you for technical review and approval against IEC, IEEE, NEC/NFPA, API and company standards. Power system studies form a core part of the work, covering load flow, short circuit, motor starting, harmonic analysis and protective relay coordination in tools such as ETAP, SKM or PSS/E. HV/MV/LV switchgear, transformers, variable speed drives, UPS systems and emergency generation all pass through your equipment evaluations. Hazardous area classification under IEC 60079, HAZOP and SIL assessments bring safety into the design from the start. Support extends into construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning, as well as brownfield modifications and reliability work with operations and maintenance teams. Junior and mid-level engineers rely on your mentoring, and management of change keeps every design modification traceable. Applicants need a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a relevant post-degree qualification and at least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in oil and gas or energy, with CEng, PE or equivalent registration preferred.
