Job description
The Senior Managing Consultant, Advisors & Consulting Services - AI Strategy (Financial Services) will report to the Principal and work closely with the Mastercard AI team to lead AI-driven consulting engagements for clients, particularly card issuers and financial services organizations. The role involves spearheading the development and implementation of AI strategies addressing complex business challenges in payments, leveraging expertise in AI strategy, data science, machine learning engineering, business strategy, analytics, automation, data engineering, and solution design. The consultant will identify high-impact AI and analytics opportunities, quantify ROI, and architect end-to-end AI solutions. Responsibilities include securing executive stakeholder alignment, scaling initiatives across multiple use cases, overseeing iterative project roadmaps, pilot rollouts, and change management, while ensuring adoption of AI best practices. The role demands hands-on GenAI experience, including development with open source LLM models such as Deepseek and LLaMA. The consultant will publish and present thought leadership via whitepapers, case studies, conference keynotes, and journal articles, and advise on AI ethics, governance, and regulatory considerations in financial services. Additional duties include developing delivery frameworks, methodologies, reusable assets (templates, playbooks), mentoring junior colleagues, and fostering cross-functional collaboration among data science, engineering, and business teams. The position requires 8+ years of experience in data-driven strategies, strong knowledge of the payments ecosystem, agile methodologies, iterative development, technology project management, and executive-level presentation skills. A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science, engineering, or related fields is required; a Master’s degree or equivalent is preferred.

- Identify high-impact opportunities for AI and analytics within client organizations and quantify the value potential of AI solutions
- Architect end-to-end AI solutions using expertise in data engineering, solution design, and domain-specific knowledge
- Secure alignment from executive stakeholders and translate AI visions into actionable plans with clear timelines, deliverables, and metrics
- Scale AI initiatives across multiple use cases, addressing technical and organizational hurdles
- Oversee project roadmaps in partnership with AI and ML engineering leaders, ensuring iterative versioning and pilot rollouts
- Collaborate with business leaders to co-own solutions, gather feedback, and adjust scopes for maximum value
- Provide change management and AI expertise to ensure full realization of value and adoption of best practices
- Publish and present thought leadership via whitepapers, case studies, conference keynotes, and journal articles
- Build and maintain an external network of AI experts, industry leaders, and academic partners
- Advise on AI ethics, governance, and regulatory considerations in financial services

Experience & skills
- Minimum of 8 years leading data-driven strategies and delivering measurable outcomes, preferably in financial services, payments, or card issuing
- Hands-on GenAI experience, including development and deployment of use cases with open source LLM models such as Deepseek and LLaMA
- Proven track record of publishing, speaking at conferences, or driving innovative AI solutions in recognized industry settings
- Excellent executive-level presentation skills and ability to translate complex AI concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, iterative development, and modern technology project management practices
- Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem and operational challenges relevant to card issuers
- Experience managing direct reports and/or cross-functional teams, with mentoring and high-performance team building
