Job description
Al Futtaim Real Estate is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to serve as Project Manager - Electrical within its Asset Development division. Acting as a client-side technical representative, this role is responsible for overseeing electrical engineering aspects of large-scale real estate projects across retail malls, residential villas and apartments, hotels, offices, workshops, and luxury private housing. The role covers project design, planning, consultant and contractor management, tendering, and execution, ensuring high-performance, sustainable, and safe electrical systems are delivered within time, budget, and quality parameters.

Key responsibilities
- Contribute to project briefing and establish technical standards for electrical systems.
- Review all project design stages from concept to detailed design for compliance with business requirements.
- Produce review and approval reports for consultant and contractor designs and ensure close-out of issues.
- Monitor project progress and initiate corrective actions when milestones are at risk.
- Work with the project team to ensure delivery meets defined quality standards.
- Evaluate site problems, recommend solutions, and oversee testing and commissioning.
- Monitor project costs with the project team and manage actions to maintain cost targets.
- Evaluate variations and prepare budget estimates with the cost team.
- Lead value engineering exercises to optimize solutions within cost parameters while considering life cycle costs.
- Maintain project progress records and procure reports from the project team for overall reporting.
- Coordinate complete design delivery and ensure contractor documentation is accurate and thorough.
- Assist in preparation of contract documentation for consultants and contractors.
- Provide technical input to consultant RFPs and review technical proposals.
- Oversee contractor tender documentation, including review and assessment of technical proposals.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of total experience, with at least 5 years in senior engineering or leadership roles.
- 10+ years of experience in managing large, complex real estate projects.
- Strong knowledge of LV, MV, HV electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and ELV systems.
- Proficiency in reviewing design drawings, specifications, and technical submittals.
- Experience in project management covering site analysis, permitting, approvals, budgeting, design, and construction.
- Strong understanding of value engineering and lifecycle cost evaluation.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Experience working on retail, residential, hospitality, office, and mixed-use developments.
