Job description
The Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) at Tap Payments will oversee the implementation and effectiveness of AML/CFT compliance in line with QCB regulations. This senior leadership role ensures that all transactions, operations, and internal policies align with national and international anti-financial crime standards. The MLRO will manage regulatory reporting, risk assessments, policy development, internal audits, training programs, transaction monitoring systems, and more, serving as a key liaison between the company and the Qatar Central Bank. The successful candidate must bring deep expertise in compliance, financial crime prevention, and regulatory frameworks while maintaining robust internal controls and training initiatives.

Key responsibilities
- Act as the MLRO responsible for ensuring compliance with AML/CFT and AFC laws per QCB regulations.
- Ensure full compliance with the FC Module and regulatory frameworks.
- Monitor domestic and international regulatory changes and communicate them internally.
- Establish systems, controls, and policies aligned with QCB and other regulatorsā requirements.
- Promote AML/CFT awareness across departments and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Review KYC processes and report exceptions or breaches to management and regulators.
- Prepare and submit AML implementation reports to QCB as required.
- Conduct periodic KYC reviews and develop discrepancy reports.
- Implement AML training programs and awareness initiatives internally and externally.
- Develop AML, CFT, and anti-fraud policies as necessary.
- Oversee investigations of escalated customers and suspicious behavior analysis.
- Maintain investigation logs, documents, and reports for compliance purposes.
- Manage AML projects including system acquisition and control development.
- Create and manage AML/AFC risk registers and scenarios based on customer risk profiles.
- Review the transaction monitoring process annually for effectiveness.
- Handle AML/CFT audit requirements and collaborate with auditors.
- Monitor compliance with sanctions and embargoes lists issued by authorities.
- Approve business decisions based on requests received from QCB.
- Develop and maintain AML/CFT documentation to reflect current regulatory standards.
Experience & skills
- Minimum of 7 years experience in audit, monitoring, or within payment/financial services.
- Project management and report writing skills.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal abilities.
- High attention to detail and proficiency with PC tools.
- Industry knowledge of payments or financial services.
- Understanding of GCC or international financial regulations.
- Experience managing compliance programs and regulatory communications.
- Qatar residency is required.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is preferred.
- Approval by Qatar Central Bank (QCB) as MLRO is mandatory per FC Module requirements.
