Job description
Mott MacDonald is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior Contract Administrator to support the construction supervision team on a major residential and infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The role is focused on managing cost and commercial aspects throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, adherence to UAE construction practices, and delivery of value for money. The position involves preparation and reconciliation of Bills of Quantities based on actual site quantities, conducting detailed cost analysis, preparing monthly financial and variance reports, and implementing effective cost control measures. The role requires measuring progress of works, coordinating interim payments, managing cash flow forecasts, and evaluating, negotiating, and administering variations, claims, and change orders under FIDIC contracts. Responsibilities include reviewing and registering drawing revisions for cost and quantity implications, attending site meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders to discuss valuations and commercial matters, and supporting senior commercial staff in evaluating contractor claims and preparing change orders. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will liaise closely with the client on all cost and commercial issues, providing professional advice, updates, and recommendations. The role operates within Mott MacDonaldâs Buildings market and Building Services discipline, supporting construction supervision on complex projects while aligning with the firmâs global consultancy standards and employee-owned culture.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare and reconcile Bills of Quantities based on actual site measurements and quantities
- Conduct detailed cost analysis, prepare monthly financial reports, and support variance reporting activities
- Assist in risk management and value management processes and implement effective cost control measures
- Measure progress of works, coordinate interim payments, and manage project cash flow forecasts
- Evaluate, negotiate, and administer variations, claims, and change orders in accordance with contract requirements
- Review and register drawing revisions and assess their cost and quantity implications
- Attend site meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders to discuss valuations and commercial matters
- Support senior commercial staff in preparing change orders and evaluating contractor claims
- Liaise with the client on all cost and commercial issues, providing advice, reports, and updates as required
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorâs degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline from a recognised university
- Maintain professional membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and UAE construction practices
- Demonstrate proficiency in cost management tools and quantity surveying software such as MS Excel and CostX
- Possess the capability to manage cost and commercial aspects across the construction project lifecycle
