Job description
The Manager β Regulation & Compliance provides expert advisory services on regulatory matters for Ports, Maritime, or Economic & Free Zones (EC&FZ). The role involves implementing best practices, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, monitoring risk and compliance programs, leading audits, and fostering a culture of compliance and ethics across the organization. The manager serves as a strategic partner to the Director of Regulations and Compliance, providing insights, solutions, and support to ensure regulatory obligations are met efficiently.

Key responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory issues within the specified cluster (Ports, Maritime, or EC&FZ).
- Develop and implement pragmatic solutions for emerging regulatory challenges.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and controls are effective and support regulatory compliance.
- Drive oversight of regulatory risk assessments and the regulatory universe, ensuring business-level compliance.
- Monitor the effectiveness of regulatory systems and internal controls continuously.
- Lead all internal and regulatory inspections and audits, maintaining oversight and ensuring timely resolution of findings.
- Encourage innovation and automation within compliance processes and systems.
- Provide internal reporting to the Director of Regulations and Compliance, highlighting complex issues and recommended solutions.
- Support training and capacity building for staff on evolving regulatory requirements and compliance practices.
- Manage investigation plans and case resolution processes to address complaints, non-compliances, or employee concerns.
- Engage with professional associations, industry groups, government partners, and trade bodies to remain updated on regulatory developments.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorβs degree in Law, Government, Political Science, Communications, or a related field.
- 8β10 years of experience in a regulatory or compliance management role, preferably in maritime law or corporate compliance.
- Knowledge of local and international regulatory environments and standards.
- Experience working at corporate level, ideally with international shipping companies, classification societies, maritime authorities, or trade associations.
- Strong communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and drive strategic compliance objectives.
- Established relationships with regulatory agencies are desirable.
- Professional agility, collaborative mindset, and effective stakeholder management.
- Compliance/AML and sanctions certifications are a plus.
