Job description
The Business Analyst role involves joining a client service team to take ownership of a defined workstream and contribute to solving complex and pressing challenges faced by a wide range of clients, including Fortune 500 corporations and innovative startups. The role is centered on uncovering the underlying issues behind client strategies and developing actionable plans that drive immediate results and long-term transformation. Business Analysts work directly with clients and McKinsey colleagues, combining research, data analysis, interviews, and structured problem-solving to generate insights and breakthrough solutions. The position requires developing work product-focused outputs such as PowerPoint presentations, Excel models, written articles, and other analytical deliverables to support recommendations. The role also involves supporting strategy refinement, transformation implementation, and capability building so that clients can continue innovating and improving after engagements conclude. Business Analysts operate in diverse and sometimes challenging environments, collaborate across global teams, and contribute to McKinsey’s commitment to integrity, ethics, and delivering lasting impact across industries and communities.

- Own and manage a defined workstream within a client service team to address complex business challenges
- Conduct research, analyze data, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information to generate insights
- Perform structured problem-solving through interviews, brainstorming sessions, and analytical frameworks
- Develop work product-focused deliverables including PowerPoint decks, Excel models, articles, and written outputs
- Collaborate directly with clients to solve problems, refine strategies, and support transformation initiatives
- Support implementation of recommendations and transfer tools and knowledge to clients to ensure sustained impact
- Work across diverse industries, organizations, and environments, including locations with operational or access constraints
Experience & skills
- Hold an undergraduate degree with less than four years of work experience, with requirements varying by country or practice
- Demonstrate proficiency in data-driven and rational decision making based on facts and logical reasoning
- Produce structured analytical outputs using tools such as PowerPoint and Excel
- Operate effectively in a complex, autonomous work environment with the ability to manage time and priorities
- Be available to travel, work across varying environments, and attend meetings or projects outside traditional business hours when required
