Job description
The Data Engineer VMUAE is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying ETL processes and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data across integrated systems. The role demands proficiency in big data technologies, cloud-based data platforms, and advanced analytics techniques such as machine learning and predictive modeling. The engineer will work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into data-driven solutions and maintain thorough documentation of all integration processes. The position is based at du HQ in the UAE and requires strong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of ETL concepts, data warehousing, data modeling, and data integration strategies
- Design, develop, and deploy ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using data engineering and integration tools
- Utilize SQL, Python, and scripting languages to handle complex integration scenarios
- Design and implement data analytics solutions using Qlik Sense, QlikView, and Qlik Cloud
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy across integrated systems through data governance practices
- Utilize data platform tools such as Talend, Qlik, Vertica, Kafka, Spark, S3/MinIO/VAST, Airflow, Datahub, and AWS Services
- Monitor data integration jobs, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance tasks
- Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of integration processes, configurations, and best practices
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās or masterās degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics)
- 8+ years of experience in leading data and analytics functions, preferably in a big data environment
- Strong knowledge and expertise in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms
- Proficiency in advanced analytics techniques such as predictive modeling, machine learning, and data visualization
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of building high-performing teams
- Strong business acumen and ability to translate business requirements into data-driven solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for conveying complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Fluency in English; Arabic is a plus
