Job description
The Operations & Maintenance Manager leads Woodâs O&M activities in the UAE with extensive travel across the MEAC region, directing regional growth, operational excellence, and delivery performance across upstream and midstream oil and gas contracts. The role carries full accountability for safety, technical delivery, financial performance, P&L ownership, resource management, and execution of Woodâs O&M capabilities on new and ongoing projects. Responsibilities include governance oversight, risk and opportunity reviews, compliance with operational standards, subcontractor management, cost controls, performance reporting, and ensuring alignment with corporate values. The position requires resolving complex contractual, operational, technical, and commercial challenges affecting customer service, as well as driving business continuity, disaster recovery planning, innovation, digitalisation, and continuous improvement across multiple sites. The role supports growth through collaboration with business development, contributes to bids and tenders, strengthens client relationships, and ensures delivery capability across the region. Leadership responsibilities include talent development, HSE leadership, embedding a strong safety culture, managing underperformance, team alignment, and acting as director for legal entities within remit.

- Direct and guide regional growth, development, and delivery performance aligned with strategy and business plans.
- Assume P&L, budgetary, safety, and technical accountability, ensuring delivery of monthly and annual targets.
- Oversee operational controls, governance mechanisms, and day-to-day management to maintain integrity, safety, quality, and excellence.
- Resolve complex strategic, contractual, commercial, technical, and personnel challenges impacting customer performance.
- Lead deployment of Woodâs O&M capability on new projects and supervise all areas on small or specific sections on larger projects.
- Ensure HSE leadership and compliance with safety rules, regulations, and industrial requirements.
- Manage project cost, schedule, execution quality, and maintenance performance while monitoring adherence to procedures.
- Develop shift schedules, job priorities, inspections, and solutions for work continuity and breakdown repairs.
- Lead integration with plant functions to ensure operational support and recommend equipment or method improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement, procedure standardization, and consistent operational management across sites.
- Manage financial deliverables including revenue, margin, budget, forecasting, risk reviews, cost controls, and cash collection.
- Ensure robust governance, subcontractor management, operational reporting, and compliance with corporate policies.
- Develop business plans, annual goals, and strategies and participate in technical audits and peer reviews.
- Identify innovation and digitalisation opportunities to improve operational performance.
- Ensure robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans and lead their activation when required.
- Work with business development to drive growth, support bids and tenders, and expand services across target markets.
- Strengthen customer relationships through effective communication and service alignment.
- Lead recruitment, talent development, competency assurance, and performance management across O&M teams.
Experience & skills
- Fluent Arabic speaker.
- Minimum ISCED Level 5 technical diploma/apprenticeship or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
- At least 15 years of post-qualification supervisory experience in maintenance-related roles within relevant industries.
- Experience working in Iraq and the Middle East.
- Demonstrated capability in training and developing local talent.
- Strong organisational, communication, judgment, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to manage timelines, targets, and culture change initiatives.
- Strong team-building skills and commitment to safety leadership.
- Experience overseeing operations across multiple sites with governance and P&L responsibility.
