Job description
Kingâs College Hospital London â UAE seeks a Clinical System Specialist to optimize, configure, and support Cerner electronic health record systems. This role bridges clinical and IT teams, driving improvements in workflows, data integrity, and user satisfaction. Responsibilities include system administration, troubleshooting, workflow analysis, staff training, upgrade participation, and ensuring adherence to data standards and security protocols to enable seamless clinical operations across departments.

Key responsibilities
- Configure, customize, and maintain Cerner EHR modules (e.g., PowerChart, FirstNet) to align with clinical requirements
- Act as primary liaison between clinical departments and IT for rapid resolution of system errors and service requests
- Analyze end-to-end data workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement enhancements for improved data capture and reporting
- Develop and deliver training sessions, user guides, and e-learning materials to support staff proficiency in Cerner usage
- Lead and participate in system upgrade activities, design and execute test scripts, and validate new functionality in test and production environments
- Monitor key performance indicators for system uptime, response times, and incident resolution metrics and report findings to leadership
- Collaborate with information security team to enforce access controls, audit trails, and encryption in line with HIPAA and local regulations
- Support clinical audits by extracting system data, preparing compliance reports, and validating documentation accuracy
- Document configuration changes, standard operating procedures, and technical specifications for future reference
- Coordinate with external vendors and Cerner technical support for escalated issues and software patches
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Nursing, or related field
- 3â5 yearsâ hands-on experience configuring and supporting Cerner EHR systems in a hospital environment
- Proficiency in SQL and experience extracting and analyzing clinical data
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows, documentation standards, and healthcare regulations
- Demonstrated experience in user acceptance testing and system upgrade validation
- Ability to develop training programs and conduct workshops for diverse clinical staff
- Familiarity with HL7 messaging, interface engines, and integration best practices
- Knowledge of healthcare data privacy standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and security protocols
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent technical projects
- Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for clinical audiences
