Job description
The Assistant Vice President - Sustainable Development and Supply Chain in Abu Dhabi leads the implementation of sustainable construction and supply chain strategies across Aldar's developments, projects, and existing portfolio. This role focuses on integrating sustainable procurement requirements into tendering processes, developing ESG programs for contractors and suppliers, and driving low-carbon material adoption. Responsibilities include gathering and analyzing environmental data from construction sites, assessing environmental impact of materials and products, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading sustainability pilots, and fostering innovation in sustainable construction techniques. The role requires collaboration with project teams to embed sustainable practices into operations while monitoring compliance, providing insights, and delivering solutions to enhance supply chain sustainability and contribute to Aldarās net zero targets.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of sustainable construction and supply chain strategies and plans
- Develop and integrate sustainable procurement requirements into procurement and tendering processes
- Review, develop, and continuously improve policies, standards, guidelines, tools, and systems for sustainability integration
- Develop market intelligence on low-carbon construction materials and products, including supplier economics and pricing benchmarks
- Design and deliver supply chain ESG programs to raise contractor and supplier sustainability maturity
- Analyze environmental data from construction sites, generate insights, and propose solutions to sustainability challenges
- Assess the environmental impact of materials and products, considering carbon footprint, energy consumption, and waste generation
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate sustainable materials into construction operations
- Identify technical risks of sustainable materials and develop mitigation strategies
- Drive innovation by exploring new technologies, materials, and techniques and lead implementation of sustainability pilots
- Stay informed on regulatory changes and industry trends affecting sustainable sourcing
- Monitor compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and sustainability standards
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Environment, or a related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience in sustainability, sustainable design, or construction within the built environment
- Strong understanding of sustainable procurement practices and green materials
- Proficiency in sustainability assessment tools such as EPD and LCA
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and certifications for sustainable sourcing
- Project management experience
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
