Job description
The Lead Project Engineer β Interfaces role at Wood supports the delivery of engineering excellence on a major onshore brownfield oil and gas project based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This full-time, office-based position with travel requirements is responsible for managing complex engineering interfaces across multiple disciplines, execution centres, and third parties to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of project engineering deliverables. The role provides tactical leadership to large multidisciplinary engineering teams, overseeing planning, scheduling, resource forecasting, and workshare strategies while ensuring compliance with project procedures, technical standards, quality systems, and HSE requirements. The position plays a critical role in design verification, change management, and contract-based decision-making, working closely with project managers, discipline managers, clients, and partners to manage scope, mitigate risks, and maintain customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage engineering interfaces across multiple disciplines to ensure successful delivery of project scope
- Oversee planning, scheduling, and resource forecasting for engineering activities
- Coordinate and assure technical excellence of interdisciplinary engineering deliverables
- Manage and drive completion of engineering deliverables in accordance with procedures, specifications, and standards
- Prepare and review discipline design instructions, manpower plans, and multidiscipline contract requisition scopes
- Coordinate with discipline managers to secure appropriate engineering resources
- Create and implement work plans for discipline and inter-discipline interfaces, including milestones and forecasts
- Manage workshare plans across execution and high-value engineering centres
- Ensure compliance with project quality systems and conduct project audits as required
- Plan and implement Health, Safety, Environment, and Security reviews
- Drive and participate in design verification activities and risk mitigation planning
- Manage engineering change processes, quantify impacts, and develop mitigation strategies
- Supervise and coordinate large interdisciplinary engineering teams, typically exceeding 50 personnel
- Lead technical interfaces with third parties and act as primary engineering interface with the client
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and functional supervision to project engineers
Experience & skills
- Hold a minimum ISCED Level 6 Bachelorβs degree in an engineering discipline
- Demonstrate ten or more years of broad industry experience in project execution, preferably including construction site experience
- Apply strong understanding of technical work scopes and commercial aspects of EPC or EPCM projects
- Demonstrate experience managing engineering interfaces and multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrate working knowledge of engineering standards, specifications, and project execution procedures
- Apply experience in change management and use of contract conditions to support schedule and scope decisions
- Demonstrate ability to lead large engineering teams and coordinate between engineering discipline groups
- Professional Engineer registration or engineering chartership preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification preferred
