Job description
The Strategic Sales Manager at DHL Global Forwarding, Freight in Abu Dhabi is responsible for driving growth in gross profit and volumes through acquisition and development of medium and large strategic customers with complex supply chain requirements. The role focuses on proactive identification, qualification, and conversion of high-value accounts, leveraging DHLâs full portfolio of logistics solutions. Responsibilities include designing tailored, value-driven solutions, acting as a trusted advisor to senior customer stakeholders, leading pricing strategies, commercial negotiations, and contract renewals, as well as supporting country and globally led RFQs, RFI, and RFP submissions. The position involves monitoring industry trends, customer behaviours, and competitive dynamics to provide insights for product development and go-to-market strategies. The Strategic Sales Manager ensures smooth customer onboarding with defined SLAs and SOPs, maintains sales pipeline and KPIs within CRM, and integrates sustainability and compliance practices into sales activities. Success is measured by personal sales targets, new strategic customer acquisition, share-of-wallet expansion, sales pipeline quality, forecast accuracy, and consistent KPI achievement across the portfolio.

- Identify, target, and acquire new medium and large strategic customers with strong long-term revenue, profitability, and volume potential through proactive hunting activities across DHLâs products and solutions.
- Qualify prospects based on strategic fit, scalability, profitability, lifetime value, market potential, and alignment with company growth strategy.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of strategic customers through structured account development plans and commercial initiatives to achieve specific sales and profitability targets.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior customer stakeholders by understanding their business models, supply chains, strategic priorities, and translating challenges into scalable commercial opportunities.
- Lead pricing strategies, commercial negotiations, contract renewals, and manage RFQ/RFI/RFP submissions in collaboration with companyâs Products functions and global/regional stakeholders.
- Design and present tailored, value-driven logistics solutions leveraging cross-BU capabilities, including positioning sustainability and green logistics solutions as part of the customer value proposition.
- Lead regular cross-functional business reviews (BRMs/QBRs) preparations and delivery to customers, reviewing performance, highlighting risks, identifying opportunities, and driving improvement actions with Product and Operations teams.
- Monitor market trends, customer behaviours, and competitive dynamics to provide insights for product development, go-to-market strategy, and pipeline management, while maintaining CRM data accuracy and reporting sales KPIs.
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorâs degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Demonstrate 6+ years of experience in strategic B2B sales, account management, or related commercial roles, with a proven track record of acquiring and developing high-value customers.
- Exhibit experience managing complex, multi-solution customer relationships and delivering solution-based logistics strategies.
- Possess strong understanding of logistics, freight forwarding, and supply chain operations, with prior sales experience in the Abu Dhabi market.
- Demonstrate fluency in Arabic and excellent communication skills to engage senior stakeholders and clients effectively.
- Proven ability to execute pricing strategies, lead commercial negotiations, manage contract renewals, and handle RFQ/RFI/RFP processes efficiently.
- Experience in CRM systems for pipeline tracking, KPI monitoring, and sales forecasting.
- Strong analytical skills to assess market dynamics, competitor strategies, and customer behaviours to inform sales planning and commercial decision-making.
