Job description
The Trade Consultant will be part of the Global Insight (GI) consulting team within S&P Globalās Market Intelligence division. This role involves delivering custom analytical solutions for clients in government and private sectors, especially in the Middle East. The position focuses on international trade and investment strategies, economic transition planning, and risk assessments. The consultant will work closely with senior stakeholders, manage data and models, support project management, and contribute to high-impact client deliverables.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Support econometric modeling and forecasting, including data gathering, cleaning, and validation
- Undertake desk-based research on topics such as policy, regulatory developments, political and security dynamics
- Identify and qualify external data needs and integrate them into models
- Lead analysis and reporting of insights and provide technical support tailored to client expectations
- Design technical approaches to client problems and communicate them internally and externally
- Accompany colleagues in presenting project findings and methodologies to senior clients
- Support project management, ensuring proper sequencing and execution of deliverables
- Shape data-led narratives on economic and social impact of initiatives
- Contribute to scenario planning and early warning systems for corporate risks
Experience & skills
- Master's degree in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, or related fields
- Minimum 4 years of experience with economic modeling and/or large datasets
- Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience using statistical analysis tools such as E-Views, R, Stata, and Python
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders
- Ability to self-organize and prioritize work to meet competing deadlines
- Fluent Arabic preferred, not essential
- Understanding of macroeconomics, microeconomics, trade, investment, commerce, and geopolitics
- Familiarity with trade models such as gravity analysis preferred
