Job description
The Senior Medical Science Liaison – Oncology serves as the scientific and medical interface between Novartis and the external healthcare and scientific community. The role is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with Health Care Providers (HCPs), including external medical experts, clinical investigators, and treatment guideline specialists, to facilitate ethical, transparent, and timely dissemination of clinical and scientific information related to Novartis oncology compounds and therapeutic areas. The position supports the execution of medical affairs strategies aligned with the Integrated Product Strategy (IPS) by engaging key stakeholders, sharing scientific evidence, and promoting educational initiatives within the oncology domain. The Medical Science Liaison communicates medical, scientific, and health outcomes evidence regarding approved products and investigational compounds while responding to unsolicited HCP requests using globally approved data. The role contributes to the advancement of clinical research programs by identifying potential study sites, supporting trial feasibility assessments, facilitating Investigator-Initiated Trials (IIT) submissions, and coordinating material transfer agreements for independent research initiatives. The position promotes scientific exchange on emerging oncology treatment principles and collects insights from healthcare professionals to inform strategic planning and medical affairs activities. Internally, the Senior Medical Science Liaison acts as a medical resource for disease-area expertise and product training while contributing to the development and execution of medical strategies. The role also ensures strict adherence to compliance frameworks governing Medical Affairs field interactions and research activities, maintaining high standards of scientific integrity and ethical engagement with stakeholders while supporting educational initiatives and internal capability development.

Key responsibilities
- Identify, map, and establish strategic engagement with medical experts, healthcare providers, treatment guideline specialists, and clinical investigators in alignment with the Integrated Product Strategy (IPS)
- Share medical, scientific, and health outcomes evidence related to Novartis oncology compounds, therapeutic areas, and treatment innovations with healthcare professionals and key stakeholders
- Respond to unsolicited requests from healthcare providers by presenting accurate and globally approved scientific data, including information related to compounds currently under development
- Facilitate scientific collaboration by involving healthcare professionals in advisory boards, educational programs, and scientific publications where relevant
- Support Novartis clinical research programs by educating investigators about clinical studies, recommending study sites, and assisting with trial feasibility assessments and participant accrual
- Facilitate Investigator-Initiated Trial (IIT) submissions and coordinate material transfer agreements to support independent research initiatives
- Promote scientific exchange by discussing emerging oncology research, treatment principles, and healthcare trends with key stakeholders
- Collect and communicate healthcare professional insights and field feedback to inform medical strategy and Integrated Product Strategy planning
- Serve as a local medical resource for disease-area expertise and support internal training on oncology products and therapeutic areas
- Contribute to the development and execution of Medical Affairs strategies in collaboration with cross-functional Novartis teams
- Ensure full compliance with Medical Affairs processes, regulatory guidelines, and company policies governing field interactions and research activities
- Provide educational and scientific information addressing patient-critical issues while supporting internal capability development through knowledge sharing and training initiatives
Experience & skills
- Degree in PharmD, PhD, or MD (Medical Doctor)
- Minimum of two years of experience working as a Medical Science Liaison or in a related Medical Affairs role
- Experience or knowledge in the oncology therapeutic area is considered an advantage
- Strong understanding of medical affairs activities including stakeholder engagement, scientific communication, and clinical research collaboration
- Knowledge of clinical research processes including trial feasibility assessments, Investigator-Initiated Trials (IIT), and research collaboration frameworks
- Ability to communicate complex scientific and clinical information clearly to healthcare professionals and external medical experts
- Experience supporting medical education programs, advisory boards, and scientific exchange initiatives
- Understanding of pharmaceutical compliance standards governing Medical Affairs field interactions
- Ability to collect and analyze healthcare professional insights to support medical strategy development
- Fluency in Arabic and English languages for professional scientific communication
