Job description
The Senior Durability Engineer role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates within Egis involves providing technical engineering expertise in service life design, durability assessment, and rehabilitation strategies for concrete infrastructure projects. The role requires utilizing numerical modeling and service life modeling to predict the service life of new structures and define performance requirements aligned with owner objectives. Responsibilities include material selection and testing of specialized concrete mixtures, conducting permeability testing, creep testing, shrinkage testing, and evaluating resistance to corrosion and chemical attack. The role requires conducting structural condition surveys, site inspections, and forensic engineering evaluations of existing concrete structures to identify degradation mechanisms including corrosion, alkali-silica reaction (ASR), sulfates, hydration effects, and microstructural deterioration. The Senior Durability Engineer develops rehabilitation design strategies and maintenance planning approaches to extend infrastructure service life. The role ensures compliance with technical codes and standards including ACI standards and ASTM standards while supporting infrastructure sustainability objectives. The position requires laboratory testing of concrete materials, site inspection activities, and utilization of service life modeling software such as STADIUM software and structural analysis tools to assess structural durability and long-term performance. The role supports sustainable infrastructure development and contributes to intelligent infrastructure engineering, climate resilience, and lifecycle performance optimization across infrastructure and building projects.

Key responsibilities
- Utilize numerical modeling and service life modeling to predict service life of new concrete structures and define durability performance requirements aligned with owner objectives
- Develop specialized concrete mixture design and conduct permeability testing, creep testing, shrinkage testing, corrosion resistance analysis, and chemical attack resistance analysis
- Conduct site inspections, structural condition surveys, and forensic engineering assessments of existing concrete structures to identify degradation mechanisms
- Analyze concrete microstructure, hydration behavior, and degradation mechanisms including corrosion, alkali-silica reaction (ASR), and sulfate attack
- Design rehabilitation strategies including repair methods and maintenance planning to extend usable life of concrete infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with technical codes and standards including ACI standards and ASTM standards for material specifications and structural performance
- Perform laboratory testing of concrete materials and evaluate durability characteristics
- Use service life modeling software including STADIUM software and structural analysis tools to assess structural performance and durability
- Support sustainable infrastructure development and lifecycle performance optimization
- Prepare technical documentation, durability reports, and engineering recommendations for infrastructure projects
Experience & skills
- Hold Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- Demonstrate technical knowledge of concrete microstructure, hydration processes, and degradation mechanisms including corrosion, ASR, and sulfate attack
- Show experience in laboratory testing of concrete including permeability testing, creep testing, and shrinkage testing
- Demonstrate experience conducting site inspections and structural condition surveys
- Possess proficiency in service life modeling software including STADIUM software
- Show experience using structural analysis tools for durability assessment
- Demonstrate knowledge of ACI standards and ASTM standards for concrete durability and performance
- Show experience in rehabilitation design and maintenance planning for concrete structures
