Job description
The Director of Design – Landscape at Qiddiya Investment Company is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and driving the landscape architecture vision across the entire Qiddiya development. This position oversees the conceptualization, design, and implementation of innovative and sustainable landscapes that elevate guest experience and align with Qiddiya’s ambition to create a world-class entertainment and leisure destination. The role demands strategic thinking, strong creative leadership, and the ability to integrate environmental responsibility with large-scale urban and recreational developments. The successful candidate will lead internal design teams and external consultants, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest design and sustainability standards.

Key responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership and establish the landscape design strategy aligned with Qiddiya’s master planning goals
- Direct all phases of landscape design, from concept development to final execution, ensuring creative excellence and sustainability
- Lead and mentor a team of landscape architects and designers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and urban planners to ensure seamless integration of landscape design within broader development plans
- Oversee the selection, management, and performance of external design consultants, contractors, and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with local and international environmental standards, sustainability goals, and regulatory frameworks
- Engage with government agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and public engagement
- Conduct site evaluations and environmental impact assessments to guide strategic design decisions
- Manage budgets, resources, and project schedules, ensuring efficient execution and adherence to quality benchmarks
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and innovations to continuously evolve Qiddiya’s design standards
- Develop and present landscape concepts, reports, and updates to senior executives and external partners
- Champion the incorporation of sustainable practices and native ecological systems into project designs
- Promote design excellence through workshops, design reviews, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
Experience & skills
- Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely related discipline
- Professional accreditation or membership (ASLA, CMLI, or equivalent) preferred
- 14–18 years of progressive experience in landscape design, with proven leadership in managing large, complex, multi-use or destination projects
- Extensive experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with architects, engineers, and developers
- Demonstrated ability to deliver visionary, sustainable, and commercially viable landscape designs
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and relevant project management tools
- Strong understanding of sustainable design frameworks, ecological systems, and environmental best practices
- Track record of successful stakeholder engagement, government liaison, and community collaboration
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills at executive and board levels
- Proven financial acumen with experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets and vendor contracts
- Ability to operate strategically within complex, fast-paced project environments
- Creative mindset, analytical rigor, and a passion for innovation in landscape architecture
