Job description
The Cambridge High School ā Abu Dhabi seeks a Head of MoE and Teacher of Arabic & Islamic (Cycle 2 & 3) (ADEK Qualified) to provide professional leadership and management for Arabic, Islamic, and UAE Social Studies, ensuring high-quality teaching, effective use of resources, and improved standards of achievement. The role carries overall responsibility for the effective running of the department, including management of teaching staff and resources; organizing and managing the department in line with school aims and objectives; ensuring high standards of teaching and learning in the relevant subject areas; overseeing the professional development of staff; keeping abreast of recent developments in the subject; evaluating the effectiveness of teaching and learning; providing support and guidance; setting departmental priorities and targets; and ensuring that Arabic, Islamic, and UAE Social Studies receive very good ratings in ADEK inspection. The post requires ADEK-qualified status, an attested Bachelorās/Masterās Degree in Education with Equivalency, a valid teaching license, IELTS score 6 (updated), and adherence to UAE MoE compulsory subjects with specific focus on promoting the Arabic language and UAE culture and national identity, alongside knowledge of ICT to aid teaching and learning and proven success in raising student attainment.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Arabic, Islamic, and UAE Social Studies departments to ensure high-quality teaching and effective resource utilization
- Organize and run the department in line with the schoolās aims and objectives, managing teaching staff and resources
- Ensure high standards of teaching and learning in the relevant subject areas, overseeing staff professional development and subject updates
- Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning, provide support and guidance to staff, and set departmental priorities and targets
- Ensure Arabic, Islamic, and UAE Social Studies achieve very good ratings in ADEK inspection through systematic preparation and compliance
Experience & skills
- ADEK qualified candidate
- Attested Bachelorās/Masterās Degree in Education with Equivalency
- Valid teaching license
- IELTS score 6 (updated)
- Qualified/licensed teacher specializing in Arabic & Islamic with up-to-date subject knowledge and proven success in raising student attainment
- Knowledge of the use of ICT to aid teaching and learning
- Adherence to UAE MoE compulsory subjects including promotion of the Arabic language and UAE culture and national identity
- At least five (5) years of relevant teaching experience
- At least one (1) year experience as Head of Department / Senior Leader
- UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check (safeguarding requirement)
