Job description
The Oncology Pathway Coordinator is responsible for the administrative coordination and sequencing of the clinical pathway for cancer patients at various stages of their cancer journey in Dubai. The role involves coordinating and organizing clinical interventions and activities across directorates and multiple clinical services, proactively managing current and future patient pathway requirements, and ensuring continuity of care with all members of the cancer multidisciplinary team including consultants and nursing staff. The incumbent manages appointment scheduling, communicates appointment changes directly to patients, responds to non-clinical queries from general practitioners and MDT members, assesses medical, emotional and social needs, coordinates access to cancer support services such as psychologists, dietitians and physicians, educates eligible patients about research studies, and supports discharge planning. The role includes facilitating and administering MDT meetings across Gastroenterology, Breast and Oncology clinics, ensuring availability of required clinical information, documenting action plans, communicating outcomes within 24 hours, and monitoring follow-up actions. The position also supports quality, safety and data management through collaboration with clinical governance, generation of monthly reports for the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (DCNO), monitoring patient progress data, identifying system issues affecting MDT effectiveness, and proposing pathway improvements to enhance patient care. The role requires compliance with DHA licensing, nursing registration standards, resuscitation certification, CPD requirements, and adherence to organizational policies and initiatives.

Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage cancer patient clinical pathways across multiple services and directorates to ensure continuity of care
- Organize and sequence clinical interventions and activities in alignment with individual patient care plans
- Liaise with consultants, nursing staff and multidisciplinary team members to ensure patient journeys progress as planned
- Arrange consultations, appointments and support services and communicate any changes directly to patients
- Escalate deviations from expected pathways to the DCNO in line with escalation policies
- Assess medical, emotional and social needs of cancer patients and coordinate access to appropriate support services
- Facilitate, attend and administratively support MDT meetings including Gastroenterology, Breast and Oncology clinics
- Prepare patient schedules, ensure availability of required clinical information and document MDT action plans
- Ensure follow-up actions from MDT meetings are implemented and communicated to relevant consultants within required timelines
- Generate monthly clinical governance reports and provide patient progress data to support quality and safety monitoring
- Identify system issues affecting MDT effectiveness and propose and implement pathway improvements
- Support discharge planning and ensure discharge instructions are understood and followed by patients and families
Experience & skills
- Hold a valid UAE Medical Health Authority (DHA) License
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Degree in Nursing with a minimum two-year course duration
- Be registered as a Registered Nurse with a recognized authority from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia
- Have worked within an appropriate healthcare or oncology service environment within the last two years
- Demonstrate experience supporting cancer patients across different stages of the care pathway
- Hold a valid Resuscitation Certificate appropriate to the oncology specialty
- Maintain demonstrable ongoing and active Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Demonstrate good computer knowledge relevant to healthcare administration and clinical coordination
- Show awareness and understanding of KCH policies, KCH initiatives, and clinical governance requirements
- Demonstrate ability to work within multidisciplinary and multi-agency healthcare teams
- Maintain professional and personal credibility across all staff groups
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks effectively within a fast-paced clinical environment
- Demonstrate capability to respond to unexpected issues and escalate appropriately in line with escalation policies
