Job description
The Senior Bridge Design Engineer (Civil & Structural Infrastructure Projects) is responsible for delivering high-quality engineering solutions within major infrastructure, highways, and bridges projects across the Middle East, particularly in Abu Dhabi. The role operates within a global engineering consultancy environment, contributing to complex and high-profile bridge design programmes including long-span crossings, international connectors, architecturally driven structures, and design-and-build schemes. The position requires extensive bridge design expertise, including rail, metro, and high-speed rail bridge design, supported by advanced use of structural modelling and BIM tools such as MIDAS, RM, and Structural Bridge Design. The engineer ensures all designs comply with international and regional standards including Eurocodes, DMRB, AASHTO, and local authority regulations while producing robust technical documentation and contract documentation. The role involves managing project delivery to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met, coordinating workflows across global and remote design centres, and collaborating directly with clients to develop technical solutions and support decision-making. The position emphasizes adherence to quality assurance systems and a ‘right-first-time’ approach while mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development. The role requires experience in GCC infrastructure projects, exposure to design-and-build environments, and flexibility for regional travel. Additional exposure to international projects and high-speed rail infrastructure is advantageous, along with progress toward chartered engineering accreditation and professional-level Arabic language skills.
