Job description
The MEA Head of Corporate Banking at Citi is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the Corporate Banking business across the Middle East and Africa region. This executive-level role encompasses people management, client strategy, financial target setting, risk and compliance oversight, and coordination with investment banking and product teams. The role entails overseeing a team of approximately 300 bankers providing global banking services and developing tailored financial solutions for top-tier local and multinational clients. Key responsibilities include managing the full spectrum of treasury and corporate finance products, driving revenue growth and capital allocation, and ensuring all client engagements meet regulatory, compliance, and internal risk standards. The role also emphasizes talent development, stakeholder collaboration, market analysis, and thought leadership within a highly matrixed global organization.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Manage and lead the MEA Corporate Banking team and drive strategic client management
- Oversee the delivery of a wide range of financial solutions including cash management, trade, vendor finance, FX, loans, and derivatives
- Partner with Investment Banking and Risk teams to execute transactions and allocate capital effectively
- Establish and meet revenue, risk, and expense goals at cluster and country levels
- Lead client account planning, product cross-sell, and strategic access management
- Ensure client relationships and solutions adhere to internal standards and regulatory requirements
- Act as the credit senior for documentation, target market alignment, due diligence, and issue recognition
- Manage customer profitability metrics such as Revenue, Expense, CoC, EBIT, and ROTCE
- Develop and manage high-performing teams in alignment with business priorities
- Oversee compliance with laws, risk controls, and firm policies across all business operations
Experience & skills
- 20+ years of banking experience with leadership exposure in Corporate Banking
- Strong product knowledge across Markets, Services, Investment Banking, and Lending
- Senior Credit Officer Level 2 with deep knowledge of credit policies
- Proven success in managing cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
- In-depth understanding of compliance, risk, and global/local regulatory frameworks
- Established senior client relationships and industry knowledge in MEA and Europe
- Ability to deliver complex banking solutions and originate large-scale transactions
- Excellent strategic, leadership, and decision-making capabilities
- Bachelorās degree or equivalent; MBA or Masterās in a financial discipline preferred
