Job description
The Assistant Program Manager – Group Program Management Office (GPMO) supports enterprise-wide strategic program oversight within Emirates NBD. The role contributes to strengthening governance, transparency, and risk control across critical group initiatives, working closely with business units, IT, compliance, and internal audit. The GPMO function ensures that high-impact, cross-functional projects are delivered within agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards, minimizing operational and reputational risks. The Assistant Program Manager plays a key role in tracking performance metrics, highlighting risks, coordinating stakeholders, maintaining documentation systems, and supporting structured program governance. This position is designed for UAE Nationals who are looking to develop within a high-visibility enterprise PMO environment in the banking sector.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Support the Program Manager in overseeing enterprise-wide strategic programs, ensuring adherence to governance frameworks and project management standards.
- Assist in identifying, documenting, and escalating high-risk items (‘red flags’) to ensure proactive mitigation and accountability.
- Coordinate stakeholder communication across business, IT, compliance, and audit teams to ensure alignment and clarity of program objectives and deliverables.
- Maintain program documentation, trackers, and reporting tools including JIRA and Confluence, ensuring accurate and timely updates of deliverables and milestones.
- Track key performance indicators such as time, cost, and effort, highlighting deviations and supporting corrective action planning.
- Assist in organizing governance meetings, steering committees, and periodic review sessions in line with the program calendar.
- Support vendor management activities by tracking deliverables, monitoring commitments, and ensuring alignment with agreed contractual milestones.
- Contribute to integration planning, interdependency tracking, and risk rationalization across multiple concurrent projects.
- Monitor project financial performance to ensure initiatives remain within approved budgets and cost targets.
- Support compliance with enterprise PMO policies, reporting standards, and organizational control requirements.
Experience & skills
- UAE National with Family Book (mandatory requirement).
- Bachelor’s degree (mandatory); PRINCE2 certification or other project management certification is desirable.
- Minimum 1+ year of banking experience in IT, project management, or related functional areas.
- Minimum 1+ year of experience within the UAE market.
- Basic understanding of enterprise project portfolio management practices, processes, and governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with banking operations, core banking systems, and the impact of technology projects on customer experience and product delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to track KPIs, manage documentation, and support structured reporting processes.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement capabilities across diverse business segments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to dynamic priorities within a fast-paced environment.
