Job description
This position at Omantel is responsible for driving excellence in transport network design by delivering innovative and advanced frameworks that optimize infrastructure and connectivity. The role includes planning and designing end-to-end transmission solutions for diverse rollout scenarios (5G, LTE, corporate, fixed services) using technologies such as MW, PMP, Fiber, and VSAT. The candidate will perform detailed technical assessments including link budget calculations, path profiling, and frequency band allocation, while ensuring compliance with ITU-T standards and TRA guidelines. Responsibilities include strategic capacity planning with tools like predictive analytics and technology such as XPIC and MIMO, managing frame contracts and procurement processes, and delivering high-performance, cost-effective network infrastructure. The role also entails architectural design and documentation for ATN/IP networks, tender preparations, and delivering internal business cases to support expansion, migration, and optimization efforts.

Key responsibilities
- Assess Omantel network prerequisites and growth trajectories to define optimal technological solutions
- Plan and design end-to-end transmission solutions for rollout sites using MW, PMP, Fiber, and VSAT
- Strategize wireless transport evolution aligned with current network topology
- Design microwave backhaul networks and perform link budget calculations
- Conduct path profiling and optimize frequency band allocation
- Undertake capacity planning using predictive analytics to deploy SDB, MBB, HRLB, E-bands, XPIC, MIMO, and passive repeaters
- Monitor and optimize microwave network performance and parameters
- Implement network expansions through new links or upgrades
- Maximize infrastructure utilization through optimization and traffic migration
- Lead RFP evaluations and ensure vendor compliance with standards
- Manage MW Frame Contracts from issuance to delivery and implementation
- Coordinate with Procurement and Contracts on RFT and Work Orders
- Analyze and develop ATN/IP transport network plans and architecture
- Dimension network elements based on forecasts and trends
- Develop and document technical plans, BOQs, and specifications
- Ensure network quality indicators are met and support acceptance testing
- Prepare tenders for IP Core procurement and evaluate offers
- Coordinate network expansion planning with other teams
- Manage design, planning, site surveys, and data collection for targets and issue resolution
- Utilize tools and resources to ensure successful project execution
- Provide technical expertise in problem resolution and generate monthly reports
- Keep management updated with network status, issues, and capacity metrics
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Systems, Telecommunications, or Electrical & Electronics (Telecommunication)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in transport network design
- Proficient knowledge of microwave and fiber-based transmission solutions
- Experience in planning for 5G, LTE, and fixed service rollouts
- Strong background in predictive analytics for capacity planning
- Familiarity with ITU-T standards and TRA regulatory compliance
- Experience managing frame contracts and procurement processes
- Knowledge in developing ATN/IP network architecture and documentation
- Experience in preparing tenders and conducting vendor evaluations
