Job description
The Independence Senior Manager role within PwC Middle East sits in the Risk & Quality business unit under Internal Firm Services, supporting Assurance, Tax, and Advisory practices across the region. The role is responsible for safeguarding PwC’s independence, integrity, and regulatory compliance by performing detailed reviews of proposed client services and engagement letters subject to SEC independence rules. The position leads complex independence consultations, scope of service assessments, and regional permissibility evaluations for clients restricted under SEC, IFAC, PCAOB, and IESBA independence regulations. The role oversees and enhances independence policies, procedures, and digital monitoring tools, drives the design and delivery of independence training across Lines of Service, and partners with leadership to embed independence awareness into business strategy and client engagements. The Senior Manager also provides oversight of regulatory reports, communications, and quality management submissions, identifies efficiency gains through automation and continuous improvement, and manages multidisciplinary and cross-border independence engagements within a Big 4 professional services environment.

Key responsibilities
- Perform detailed reviews of proposed services and draft engagement letters subject to SEC independence rules
- Lead complex independence consultations, reviews, and scope of service assessments

- Supervise regional independence reviews and service permissibility evaluations for SEC-restricted clients
- Partner with leadership to embed independence and risk awareness into business strategy and client engagements
- Provide oversight of regulatory reports, communications, and quality management submissions
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements through process automation and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience & skills
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience including at least 3+ years in a leadership role within Independence, Risk, or Regulatory Compliance
- Deep understanding of global independence regulations including IFAC, SEC, PCAOB, and IESBA
- Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent preferred
- Demonstrated experience within professional services, ideally in a Big 4 audit firm
- Strong command of English with Arabic proficiency considered an advantage
- Proven ability to balance commercial needs with independence and risk management requirements
- Experience managing multidisciplinary and cross-border engagements
