Job description
The Manager – Business Development role at Julphar is responsible for strategizing and executing the Business Development strategy to support the organization’s financial growth and long-term development within the pharmaceutical industry. The role focuses on on-ground execution of strategic initiatives and the identification and introduction of new revenue-generating opportunities across assigned geographies. Responsibilities include analyzing product distribution needs and proposing effective and profitable distribution strategies, initiating and coordinating brand registration across multiple countries, proposing forecasts, pricing structures, and market share expectations, and ensuring timely completion of all registration-related tasks. The role requires continuous monitoring of project status, preparation of periodic reports on strategic initiatives, and delivery of regular analytics and updates to senior leadership. The Business Development Manager accesses markets based on defined strategic direction by sourcing, screening, and evaluating new products and business opportunities, identifying new product targets, and developing competitive intelligence across key project areas. The position plays a central role in strategic and financial analysis related to in-licensing opportunities, commercial co-promotion, international expansion, and generic product development, while working closely with commercial, operations, marketing, regulatory, quality, and supply chain stakeholders to ensure execution excellence and compliance with pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks.

Key responsibilities
- Strategize with the Head of Department across the full product life cycle, developing business development strategies, tactical plans, tools, and recommendations to achieve qualitative and quantitative objectives.
- Source, screen, evaluate, and lead new product opportunities and market access initiatives across assigned geographies.
- Analyze product distribution needs and propose effective and profitable pharmaceutical distribution strategies.
- Initiate and coordinate brand registration activities in multiple countries, including forecasting, pricing, market share planning, and regulatory task coordination.
- Manage contract negotiations and coordinate with internal functional teams to ensure successful completion of licensing, distribution, and commercial agreements.
- Provide structured market and competitive feedback to company leadership to support product development and strategic decision-making.
- Conduct strategic and financial analysis related to in-licensing pipelines, co-promotion opportunities, and international business development initiatives.
- Identify new generic product development opportunities through market, industry, and competitive research.
- Work with distributors, agents, statutory authorities, and governing bodies to build strategic relationships and achieve business objectives.
- Monitor project execution, prepare periodic reports, and deliver weekly or bi-weekly updates and analytics to senior stakeholders.
- Support customer prescription growth and develop innovative programs for agent and distributor management within assigned markets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Commercial, Operations, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure aligned execution.
Experience & skills
- Hold a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Science, or Commerce, with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration considered a strong advantage.
- Possess 8–10 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including a minimum of 4 years in a Business Development Manager role across MEA and other international geographies.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully pitching, negotiating, and closing new pharmaceutical business opportunities.
- Exhibit strong ability to formulate company positioning and negotiate complex commercial, licensing, and distribution agreements.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of distributor and agent operations, government accounts, tendering processes, contracting frameworks, and pharmaceutical pricing methods.
- Apply functional knowledge of clinical aspects of pharmaceuticals, supply chain operations, dispensing requirements, and drug distribution channels.
- Demonstrate experience working within matrixed, geographically distributed, and functionally diverse organizational structures.
- Show proven capability to build and sustain partnerships with Commercial, Operations, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, and other key internal and external stakeholders.
- Exhibit advanced analytical skills with experience in forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic evaluation of business development initiatives.
- Demonstrate strong regulatory awareness and the ability to manage compliance requirements from a pharmaceutical business development perspective.
