Job description
The Project Electrical Engineer is responsible for all electrical activities on assigned real estate projects within Al-Futtaim Engineering & Technologies, delivering execution in line with project goals for time, budget, and quality. Scope includes project management and stakeholder liaison (main contractors, consultants, client, internal departments); coordination with Planning Engineer, Junior Engineers, and Supervisors to quantify total material and labour needs, ensure timely ordering, and plan/arrange labour and subcontractors; daily productivity monitoring versus plan with corrective actions; overseeing installation and construction works to maintain efficient workmanship; maximizing efficient use of plant and equipment; and liaising with local authorities as required. Cost management responsibilities cover coordinating with QS to capture all variations, notify delays, and submit effective claims to improve margins, and proposing value engineering options that benefit stakeholders and budgeted profit. Engineering responsibilities include coordinating shop drawing submission/approval and tracking via registers; coordinating with procurement for vendor finalization, material submissions and approvals of suppliers/vendors/equipment; resolving complex technical problems to complete design and construction; coordinating with mechanical/other trades to verify actual equipment loads against IFCs and notify changes; and liaising with DEWA/ADDC/Etisalat/DU/DCD for approvals with up-to-date knowledge of regulations and standards. Quality/standards duties include applying internal engineering and construction standards, procedures, specifications, and templates for consistent delivery; maintaining a lessons learned register and exchanging technical information; developing method statements per project specifications; and completing project closeout documentation. HSE responsibilities include ensuring all company and subcontract personnel comply with AFE HSE Policy, reporting injuries/incidents and assisting investigations, supporting safety/environmental initiatives, and ensuring JSAs are completed as required.

- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to required quality while liaising with contractors, consultants, clients, and internal departments across engineering, execution, and closeout.
- Coordinate with Planning Engineer, Junior Engineers, and Supervisors to quantify total materials and labour, place timely material orders, and plan/arrange labour and subcontractors.
- Monitor daily productivity versus plan and implement corrective actions to address losses in productivity.
- Oversee electrical installation and construction works to maintain efficient standards of workmanship and maximize utilization of plant and equipment.
- Coordinate with QS to capture variation works, notify delays, and submit effective claims; propose value engineering solutions to enhance margins.
- Coordinate shop drawing submissions/approvals with engineers and drafting teams and track progress via shop drawing registers.
- Coordinate with procurement for vendor finalization and material submissions/approvals, tracking via material submission/procurement registers.
- Resolve complex technical issues to ensure satisfactory completion of design and construction.
- Coordinate with mechanical/other trades to verify actual equipment loads against IFC drawings and notify required changes.
- Liaise with DEWA, ADDC, Etisalat, DU, and DCD to secure required approvals and maintain current knowledge of regulations and standards.
- Apply internal engineering/construction standards, procedures, specifications, and templates; maintain a lessons learned register and develop method statements per project specifications.
- Complete project closeout documentation and ensure consistent documentation control across registers and submittals.
- Ensure compliance with AFE HSE Policy, report injuries/incidents, support safety/environmental initiatives, and ensure JSAs are completed.
Experience & skills
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in MEP contracting companies, including at least 3 years in the UAE.
- Proven experience managing electrical project execution to time, cost, and quality targets.
- Demonstrated coordination with QS for variation capture, delay notifications, and claims; ability to propose value engineering solutions.
- Hands-on coordination of shop drawings, material submissions, vendor finalization, and procurement tracking via registers.
- Experience resolving complex technical issues and coordinating across trades using IFC drawings for load verification.
- Familiarity with approvals from DEWA, ADDC, Etisalat, DU, and DCD, with up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.
- Ability to apply internal engineering and construction standards, develop method statements, and complete project closeout documentation.
- HSE compliance experience including adherence to AFE HSE Policy and completion of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
