Job description
The Director – Coverage, Commercial Banking is responsible for leading relationship coverage for SME and Mid-Market clients within First Abu Dhabi Bank’s Commercial Banking division. The role focuses on driving portfolio growth, increasing market share, and strengthening customer relationships while ensuring adherence to FAB’s lending, risk, and compliance frameworks. The position manages corporate and commercial financing portfolios, prepares and reviews credit applications, conducts detailed financial statement analysis, and assesses business, industry, and credit risks. The role supports domestic and internationally expanding SMEs by delivering tailored trade working capital, trade finance, FX, and real estate financing solutions. The jobholder ensures effective utilization of approved limits, monitors profitability through MIS reports, manages renewals and early warning signals, and coordinates closely with Credit, Risk, FX, Trade, and Operations teams. The role also emphasizes compliance with regulatory requirements, internal audit coordination, AML monitoring, customer service excellence, and proactive sourcing of new business opportunities across assigned market segments.

Key responsibilities
- Increase depth and breadth of relationships with existing SME and Mid-Market customers
- Develop and manage corporate and commercial financing portfolios to grow sales volumes and market share
- Prepare, analyze, and submit credit applications in line with bank policies and regulatory frameworks
- Assess financial statements, business models, and industry risks to support lending decisions
- Ensure effective utilization of credit limits to maximize profitability and revenue margins
- Source new borrowing relationships through existing client ecosystems, suppliers, and buyers
- Coordinate with FX, Trade, Credit, and Operations teams to deliver integrated banking solutions
- Monitor portfolio risks, early warning signals, and overdue exposures, initiating remedial actions
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, governing regulations, and AML requirements
- Support internal audit and risk management reviews and close audit observations within agreed timelines
Experience & skills
- University degree with MBA, PGDM, CA, CFA, or similar certification preferred
- 5–8 years of relevant banking experience with at least 4 years in Business or Commercial Banking roles
- Mandatory experience in Trade Working Capital products
- Experience in Real Estate Financing considered valuable
- Strong knowledge of SME banking regulations, trade finance, and credit risk assessment
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets and manage complex client portfolios
