Job description
We are recruiting a Secondary Assistant Head Teacher ā Pastoral to join the team at GEMS Cambridge International Private School, Sharjah. The post holder will support the Head of Secondary in ensuring high standards of academic achievement and pastoral care, aligned with the school's vision, UAE National Agenda targets, and GEMS core values. The role involves leading the pastoral initiatives, supporting school improvement strategies, mentoring staff, and promoting a positive and inclusive school culture. The position offers a unique lifestyle with a 4-day workweek and accommodation provided in Dubai.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Support the school's vision, mission, and policies in the Secondary School.
- Assist the Head of Secondary in strategic planning and implementation.
- Ensure high academic standards and align with UAE National Agenda targets.
- Lead the pastoral aspects of the Secondary School, including target setting.
- Teach as required and undertake duties delegated by the Principal.
- Promote excellence, care, and opportunities for all students.
- Support staff development through coaching and innovative learning strategies.
- Monitor and improve teacher competencies and pedagogical practices.
- Drive inclusion and creativity in teaching and learning provisions.
- Support wider school life and co-curricular activities.
Experience & skills
- Fully certified teacher with B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent.
- Effective leader with a proven track record of school improvement.
- Experience managing and developing school staff.
- Knowledge and application of best practice pedagogy.
- Commitment to inclusion and student success.
- Experience in the National Curriculum for England.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with lesson observations and educational quality assurance.
