Job description
Senior Officer – Trade Finance Operations (Middle Office) role within First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), responsible for processing all Trade Finance products including funded and unfunded transactions in the Trade Middle Office environment. The role ensures execution of trade transactions originated from Wholesale Banking Group (CIB, CB, FI, IB, Islamic Banking) and Consumer Banking Group, maintaining high standards of accuracy, timeliness, cost efficiency, and error-free processing. The position requires strict adherence to bank policies, SOPs, regulatory compliance standards, ICC Rules, local laws, and international trade finance frameworks. Responsibilities include pre-processing of trade finance transactions, handling trade documentation, interacting with internal stakeholders and clients for query resolution, and ensuring adherence to SLAs and system updates. The role involves reconciliation, reporting, MIS preparation, and contribution to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize operational risk. The officer must ensure zero operational losses, compliance with audit requirements, and high customer satisfaction standards. The position also includes escalation of suspicious or unusual transactions, maintaining records, supporting testing and training for system enhancements, and ensuring business continuity and operational control across trade finance processes.

Key responsibilities
- Process funded and unfunded Trade Finance transactions in the Middle Office ensuring accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and cost-efficient execution across all banking channels
- Ensure adherence to ICC Rules, internal SOPs, regulatory requirements, and bank policies in all trade finance operations and documentation handling
- Perform pre-processing of trade finance transactions including validation of documentation, shipping terms, and transaction details
- Interact with internal stakeholders and customers to resolve queries, provide guidance, and support trade transaction execution
- Maintain accurate records, reconciliations, and proofing activities including daily and monthly operational reconciliation processes
- Prepare timely MIS reports, statistical data, and operational performance reports for internal and external reporting requirements
- Identify and escalate suspicious, unusual, or high-risk transactions in accordance with compliance and risk management procedures
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps, proposing efficiency enhancements, and contributing to cost reduction measures
- Ensure adherence to SLA targets, operational controls, and regulatory standards while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
- Support testing, training, and implementation of trade finance system enhancements and assist in business continuity planning activities
Experience & skills
- Minimum 2–3 years experience in Trade Finance operations with hands-on exposure to trade products
- Strong understanding of ICC Rules, trade documentation, shipping terms, and banking SOPs
- High School or Diploma qualification in relevant field
- Experience working with core banking systems and trade finance processing platforms
- Good knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in banking operations
- Proficiency in MS Office and analytical tools for reporting and reconciliation
- Strong communication and analytical skills for stakeholder interaction and issue resolution
- Ability to manage operational risk and ensure accuracy in high-volume transaction environments
