Job description
The Senior Instrumentation Engineer - Field is responsible for creating and implementing advanced instrumentation systems for industrial Oil & Gas processes across offshore and onshore projects, including mega Oil & Gas and petrochemical developments. The role involves planning and executing instrumentation engineering design for field instrumentation, Distributed Control System (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Integrated Control System (ICS), Fire and Gas systems, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and Telecommunications systems. The position requires preparation of basic design and detailed design deliverables including SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) deliverables such as Index, I/O List, Data Sheets, Loop Drawings, Cause and Effect Diagrams, and Logic Verification. The Senior Instrumentation Engineer supports offshore design activities including RLE FPSO projects and ensures compliance with international codes, standards, and quality management system requirements. The role includes coordination with project teams and clients, preparation of project proposals and prequalification documents, and identification of engineering issues impacting project progress. The engineer is responsible for integrating automation and control strategies to enhance system performance, diagnosing operational issues, and researching new technologies to improve instrumentation capabilities. The role also includes preparation of construction work packs, performing TBE and VDR activities, and supporting engineering follow-up throughout project lifecycle. The position requires extensive experience in offshore and onshore Oil & Gas engineering, working knowledge of electrical discipline codes and specifications, hands-on experience with SPI, and experience in GCC or Middle East energy projects.

Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute instrumentation engineering design for field instrumentation, Distributed Control System (DCS), SCADA, Integrated Control System (ICS), Fire and Gas systems, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and Telecommunications systems including preparation of basic and detailed engineering deliverables
- Develop SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) deliverables including Index, I/O List, Data Sheets, Loop Drawings, Cause and Effect Diagrams, and Logic Verification for instrumentation and control systems
- Ensure offshore and onshore design compliance including RLE FPSO projects while adhering to international codes, standards, and quality management system requirements
- Coordinate with project teams, clients, and interdepartmental disciplines to support instrumentation engineering deliverables and project execution activities
- Prepare project documentation including construction work packs, technical bid evaluations (TBE), vendor document review (VDR), and follow-up engineering activities
- Identify technical issues impacting project progress and report to Project Managers and Discipline Heads while supporting resolution and mitigation planning
- Assist in preparation of project proposals and pre-qualification documents related to instrumentation engineering design and project execution
- Research new technologies, methodologies, and international engineering standards to enhance productivity, improve system performance, and support continuous engineering improvements
Experience & skills
- Hold Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from accredited university with minimum 10 years experience in Offshore and Onshore Oil & Gas industry
- Demonstrate minimum 5 years experience in similar Senior Instrumentation Engineer position in mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects
- Possess hands-on experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) including Index, I/O List, Data Sheets, and Loop Drawings
- Demonstrate offshore design experience including RLE FPSO project exposure and instrumentation design for offshore facilities
- Maintain strong knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), SCADA, Integrated Control Systems (ICS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Fire and Gas systems, and Telecommunications systems
- Demonstrate knowledge of international codes, standards, specifications, and quality management system requirements for Oil & Gas projects
- Possess working knowledge of electrical discipline codes, specifications, and engineering practices for offshore and onshore Oil & Gas industry
- Demonstrate experience working in GCC or Middle East Oil & Gas projects with strong command of spoken and written English
