Job description
The Manager – WPS, DDS & Utilities at ADIB in Dubai is responsible for overall settlement operations, including UAEDDS, WPS, SOS, utility, and payment services. The role involves managing a team of 10 staff members, ensuring productivity, quality control, timely execution of payments, and compliance with ADIB policies and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include enhancing operational policies, procedures, and systems, verifying and approving reconciliations, escalating significant deviations, supporting UAT for system issues and enhancements, evaluating and improving settlement process efficiency, managing operational risks, and undertaking cross-functional training and additional assignments. The role also requires participation in meetings, support for new initiatives, and maintaining high operational standards while providing guidance and training to junior staff.

Key responsibilities
- Manage overall settlement operations for UAEDDS, WPS, SOS, utility, and payment services
- Lead a team of 10 staff members, ensuring productivity, quality control, and timely execution of payments
- Enhance operational policies, procedures, systems, and principles for settlements and business processes
- Verify and approve reconciliation of transactions/accounts and escalate outstanding items as necessary
- Report significant exceptions or deviations to department/division management for guidance
- Ensure compliance with ADIB policies, procedures, guidelines, standards, and regulatory changes
- Assist in achieving and measuring department performance against annual goals
- Support UAT for fixing system issues and system enhancements
- Act in a supervisory role for BAU in the absence of line management
- Attend meetings and support implementation of new initiatives, projects, or regulatory requirements
- Evaluate operational processes and recommend changes to improve efficiency and controls
- Manage operational risks and controls within settlement operations
- Undertake training programs to enhance role performance and provide cross-functional training to junior staff
- Complete additional assignments or projects as assigned by line management
Experience & skills
- The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in settlement and payment operations, including domestic and cross-border WPS, DDS, utility, and other payment services. They should have a thorough understanding of operational workflows, settlement processes, and reconciliation methods within a banking environment.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, with prior experience managing a team of at least 10 staff members, overseeing their daily activities, guiding them in operational tasks, and ensuring high standards of performance and productivity.
- A comprehensive knowledge of banking regulations, ADIB policies, internal controls, and compliance procedures is essential. The candidate must be capable of implementing regulatory changes, ensuring adherence to guidelines, and monitoring operational risk across settlement operations.
- Proficiency in operational policy development and process improvement is required. The candidate should be able to identify inefficiencies in current workflows, recommend enhancements, and implement new processes or systems to improve operational accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.
- The role requires experience in reconciliation of transactions and accounts, including detecting discrepancies, initiating corrective action, and escalating issues when necessary. Familiarity with management reporting and the ability to present operational metrics effectively is expected.
- Hands-on experience with system testing, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), to support system issue resolution or enhancements, is required. The candidate should be comfortable collaborating with IT teams and other stakeholders to ensure successful deployment of system upgrades or new functionalities.
- Strong training and development skills are necessary to mentor junior staff, facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer, and build capabilities within the team. The candidate should also be prepared to take on additional projects or assignments as assigned by line management.
